Thai Express — Restaurant in Whitby

Visited recently with a friend to pick up food at Thai Express. The front desk staff—possibly a trainee—was super chill and helpful, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the cook (appeared to be South Asian background, didn’t catch the name), who kept staring in a very uncomfortable way. It felt awkward and unwelcoming.

I could tell the trainee was trying their best, but the cook seemed visibly annoyed or worked up, which created an uneasy vibe. Not sure if I want to come back to a place where you’re made to feel uncomfortable just for showing up. Customer service 101 is really lacking these days—everyone should feel welcome, not stared down.

Hope management looks into how their staff interacts with both customers and each other. Trainee or Asian front desk was super nice and chill/...

The first time I went to Thai Express , I ordered the brown rice mixed with battered fish , I had like 6 -7 pieces of battered fish. This time I ordered I literally had 2, their was a large ratio of carrots compared to other things within the bowl. THEIR WAS ALSO WAY TO MUCH OIL. When I don't cook and PAY for someone to cook for me I do not expect an exact replica but this made me want to throw out the meal left me feeling bloated due to the oil and the leftovers undesirable. My father said the wrap tasted really bad, bland and Disgusting. I personally did not try because I already felt bad. Ided give it zero stars bit I need to leave one in order to review. This location had a promo advertised in the window display that they were apparently not honouring. The staff member was quite rude, telling me I had read the sign wrong rather than explaining that this location isn’t offering the promo (which is understandable with a franchise, but at least be polite and maybe don’t put the sign up in the window).

I go to Thai express decently often and order the same thing and it was not as good as it usually was. The beef was fatty and not very good and the noodles and sauce weren’t very flavourful.
