I have come to this restaurant for years, since the beginning. I loved the fact that this was essentially vegan cuisine (though advertised as "vegetarian"). I have had many enjoyable meals at this restaurant. However, in past years I have noticed a huge difference in the quality of their food. Their rich sauces have become watery and portions have become much smaller. Of course the price is expected to go up, but I rather pay more and not have a cut in food quality or portion size. There is no need for this. I think they are underestimating their regular customers who are actually noticing a big difference for the worse.
I have also experienced some horrible service at this restaurant (particularily when the main waitress who works there now started ... which was a couple years ago) I still would come to give this restaurant a chance and always leave dissatisfied ... needless to say, this review is long overdue.
Since, I have had many unpleasant experiences with the main waitress and waiter who seem to always be working there, they are not friendly, they rush the orders and it seems that they really do not want to be there. I used to get excellent customer service from the 2 older people who worked there but sadly I seldom see them anymore.
I will not be coming to this restaurant again. The food is ... okay, most dishes are subpar at best. But those who don't have a reference point as to how good it used to be, will most likely enjoy it at first ... however, I know first hand how much better it used to be and how it now leaves something to be desired to say the least. This tells me that they don't really care about the customer, and they do not treat their regular customers (who have given them the most business) with respect. They primarily care about the buck ... getting you in and out. Being concerned with making money is fine, but not if it means compromising the quality of the food and treating customers shabbily because they will rightfully lose customers and then .. lose bucks.
Until they get their act together, improve the food, not skimp out on quality or quantity to save a buck, and improve their customer service, they''ll be losing my buck and those I would have brought and mentioned this restaurant to... which has been many many many in the past!
Good luck Affinity, hopefully you'll find your way uphill from this downward spiral...
Read moreHi, for those of you who want to try this restaurant, remember to pick the right time to go. (1) Lunch time, buffet (2) Dinner time, not buffet No MSG, Vegetarian/Vegan, No meat. 10% off, Monday 10% off, when you bring your own food containers at Dinner time (to pack up left-overs from your own "dinner" table)
Food: "Lo-Han Chew Mein" (is my must have)(translate: Lo-Han Fry Noodle)(not fried, it's a typical noodle dish. SoOO good!) "Sizzling black mushroom" (is my boyfriend's must have) "Miso Tofu" is good "(something) steak" (is a mimic of steak, tastes like chicken steak. SoOO good!)
Family Business: There are 3 Chinese families currently working for the restaurant. From grandmother to daughter and son, to grandson(who is just walking around looking at you.)
Call and ask them questions, they will be eager to help.
My experiences: I have been going there for over a year since 2010 November. I speak Mandarin so they(the workers are from Taiwan ) all talk to me a lot in Mandarin and it feels like being in Taiwan! This is great to practice my Mandarin, and to teach my boyfriend some simple Mandarin words at the same time.
The Workers: They are really friendly people, occasionally there is one server who is really shy and don't talk much to me and can appear rude, but I know, I was shy before now, so I am more considerate with shy people now. Generally all the servers and kitchen staff are polite and nice!
PS: I bought tofu skins from them two times: I wanted to buy the tofu skin from the Kitchen. One Server ran into the kitchen.(Am I the first person to buy tofu skin from them?) They figureed out the price for me. And even had packed it in a zip-lock bag for me to pick up. So convenient!
Hope you...
Read moreAffinity Vegetarian Garden is hands down the star player of veggie spots! If veggies had their own hockey league, this place would be the Winnipeg Jets — fast, fresh, and scoring big every time. It’s honestly one of the only vegan places in Winnipeg I truly trust to deliver amazing, consistent flavor without any fuss. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just someone who appreciates great food, the flavors here slap harder than a perfect slapshot.
Now, let me tell you about my all-time favorite: Combo A. This combo is like a hat trick of deliciousness — packed with so much flavor it’s basically the Conn Smythe of plant-based meals. Every bite is a goal celebration for my taste buds, and I’m pretty sure they’ve sprinkled some Canadiana magic on it.
Combo A has me coming back faster than a breakaway down the ice. It’s got the perfect blend of crunchy, savory, and fresh — like a power play that just can’t be stopped. I wouldn’t be surprised if they consulted Jets players while making it because every ingredient plays its role flawlessly. The rest of the menu is great too, but Combo A? That’s my top scorer, my MVP, my reason to keep cheering for plant-based goodness.
If you want veggies that are fun, flavorful, and made with a whole lot of love, Affinity Vegetarian Garden is your Winnipeg Jets of meals. Trust me, once you try Combo A, you’ll be shouting “GOAL!” at...
