From Smith Street the museum looks modest—looks can be deceiving! What a Winnipeg gem! Prompted the last few years by my recently retired Winnipeg Police Sargent brother-in-law I finally went down there and am I ever glad I did! I would suggest a guided tour by one of the retired force members—this way you get all the fascinating and squirrelly facts and highlights of law and order of days past! You even get to try on one of those Buffalo coats—ugh heavy! I arranged to have my tour with Jernej (yernay) who volunteers every second Thursday — you could phone first. Anyway not only is he knowledgeable and fact filled he is a natural story teller with an enthusiasm and eager sense of humor rarely seen. The tour is about an hour—to find out they could fill this museum 3 times over with all of the curated items in storage and that they have more vehicles dropped my jaw! This is only the tip of the iceberg here—they need a bigger place….c’mon city of Winnipeg pitch in and OWN up! There is no admission…there is a donation box but I chose to buy this authentic police vest for my canned drinks (20$) and a thin blue line police pin (7.50) because all profits go directly back into the curating of the museum! This gigantic quilt made by a retired officer blew me away—definitely worth a gander. You won’t believe all the interesting history here. The little gift shop area has other items and t-shirts etc—well worth a look! I don’t know what took me so long to get my butt over there!

We traveled to Winnipeg for a concert and looked up other things to do in the area while there. We saw this museum as an option last minute, and I’m so glad we did! Admission was free and the staff were so polite and knowledgeable. We got a personal tour of everything in it, of which they have a great collection of historical law enforcement items. Highly recommend!

This museum is a great visit for everybody who enjoy history. A must go! You don't imagine how cool the police history of Winnipeg is until you see the timeline, artifacts, guns and criminal historic files that make you think and be reflective of the importance of police in society. Thanks God for the police force.

Attended for "Doors Open" Winnipeg. A lot of information and history to take in for a fairly small museum. Guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. There are many, many artifacts to view and learn about. Learn how the emergency number, "911" was established.

I co-designed the HoverHawk hovercraft in the late 1960s in the UK. There were nearly 200 built. I was welcomed by the staff. It is an interesting museum and well worth a visit.
