Had floor seated tickets for Pantera/Lamb of God. Worst concert experience I’ve had. There was no space between chairs (less than 17inch width) with no arm rests separating guests… this is during winter with bulky jackets/sweaters. Had to stand sideways, constantly being nudged by the people also standing awkwardly beside us. In a large dark room for a metal concert in very limited spacing due to the seating arrangements, made this feel somewhat unsafe and poorly planned by the Canada Life Centre. No one was sitting or using the chairs so what was the purpose. This wasn’t an opera or stand up comedian. Didn’t even stay for the headliner because it was so uncomfortable and awkward… will never purchase floor seated again as anyone who purchased cheaper tickets at least got a cup holder, was able to view the show and had space to enjoy the event. This was a rock/metal concert… whoever thought the chair spacing was a good idea obviously did not care about providing a comfortable experience because the chairs were all touching and did not have armrests forcing you to sit/stand uncomfortably or being elbow deep in the stranger beside you. More baffling was that other metal concerts from last year at this venue did seem to have some spacing for comfort for floor seated ticket holders. Not as expected and feel like the premium cost of a floor seated ticket should at least have reasonable comfort for 3-4 times the cost of a regular tiered seat overlooking the stage. In addition we were asked by security if we were in the correct seats because we looked so out of place and uncomfortable due to the spacing between ticket holders. I also witnessed what appeared to be multiple individuals by-passing floor security to stand in the reserved floor areas and take up more space that actual ticket holders paid for. Security needs to stop all guests at floor entrances to ensure they have paid for floor seating or standing to avoid overcrowding of ticket holders who paid for floor reserved sections. Reached out to Canada Life Centre on the weekend and they have not contacted me and Ticketmaster also is blaming the venue when I asked about how they can address the issues. Bands were great for what I saw, but the venue needs to step up and understand the type of event they are hosting and provide adequate security and seating arrangements so that ticket holders don’t feel like livestock. In no way were the band/artists responsible and Canada Life Centre should have known what kind of event this was to properly plan and arrange seating in a safe and...
Read moreAlright, fellow Jets fans, this review is for you! As a proud Winnipegger who practically bleeds blue and white, I gotta tell you about our beloved Canada Life Centre (formerly MTS Centre, if you're old school like me).
Home Ice Advantage:
Electric Atmosphere: The Canada Life Centre is where the party's at! The crowd goes wild on game nights, the energy is contagious, and that "Go Jets Go!" chant is enough to send shivers down your spine (in a good way, of course). There's no place like home ice, especially when it's packed with passionate Jets fans. True North Strong: You can feel the pride for our team in the air. From the sea of jerseys to the pre-game ceremonies, there's a sense of community and shared love for the Jets that makes every game special. Winnipeg on Display: The arena itself has a certain charm. It's not flashy, but it's comfortable and familiar. Plus, there's a definite Manitoba vibe throughout the concourse, with local vendors and shout-outs to our great province. Beyond the Game:
Jumbo Jet Dog Delight: You can't go to a Jets game without experiencing a Jumbo Jet Dog! This legendary arena staple is a must-try. A giant hot dog piled high with all the fixings, it's the perfect way to fuel your cheers (and maybe share with a friend or two). They've also got other concession options to satisfy your game-day cravings, but the Jumbo Jet Dog is a true Manitoba classic. Easy Access: Getting to the Canada Life Centre is a breeze. Public transportation drops you right off nearby, and there's ample parking available if you're driving. Overall:
The Canada Life Centre might not be the fanciest arena out there, but it's our arena, and we love it. The atmosphere is electric on game nights, the food (Jumbo Jet Dog, anyone?) is iconic, and it's easy to get to. Plus, you get that special Winnipeg feeling that you just can't replicate anywhere else.
Bonus Tip: Wear your Jets jersey with pride, pack your earplugs (you'll need them!), and be prepared to cheer your lungs out. The Canada Life Centre is where Winnipeg Jets fans come together to create an unforgettable hockey experience....
Read moreThere have a number of events I've been to here over the years. Winnie The Pooh concert, Disney On Ice, a figure skating show, and The Offspring concert. Winnie The Pooh and Disney On Ice weren't bad. My kid enjoyed the show. There could be more room to allow people to get around easier. Concessions were very high priced.
At The Offspring concert. Digital tickets are terrible. They say you have to come with good internet or wifi connection on your phone. I'm not sure how this is controlled. I had wifi on. Data on. No connection could be found at the doors. I had to connect to someone else' wifi on their phone in order to get my ticket scanned. This held up the line and I got so frustrated I nearly slammed my phone on the ground. If I wasn't able to connect my phone to the internet that would have been money wasted and entry denied. That's where they get you, I guess. This could be a Ticketmaster issue. Not sure.
I don't understand why the seat aisles are made so narrow that the audience has to get up every time someone needs to get by. Within 45 minutes of this concert I must have gotten up for 8 people in my short row about 30 times until I gave up and stood for the rest of the concert.
The concessions are insanely expensive. $19 or more for a beer. No thanks. I hear it's more expensive at hockey games.
Security was useless. People were starting fights, smoking in the bathroom ( I have asthma and allergies to smoke. Shouldn't have to worry about that in this day and age indoors.), smoking pot in the pit. Absolutely last time I go to a concert here.
Seats are so-so. When I was at the figure skating show, I ended up in a seat with a railing and bar blocking my view of a quarter of the rink. This feature wasn't shown in the...
