***Update*** The owner has reached out to me, however the link they provided doesn’t work. She could never get through to Skip the Dishes either after spending an hour trying to chat with someone. My wife ordered the Oriental Chicken Salad from this location through Skip the Dishes. Skip doesn’t pick up and deliver from Applebees (not sure why they’re even used). So my wife had to drive from Westwood all the way out to Applebees at Grant Park in -30 degree weather. She picked up the two shopping bags of food and drove twenty minutes back home. As she unpacked all of the family’s food she discovered that there was no chicken in the bag for her $23.00 Oriental “Chicken” salad. Naturally she was very upset. She called Applebees and after speaking to someone on the phone she was hung up on. She called back and asked for the manager. She eventually spoke to Mark and explained how unhappy she was, he said because she ordered it through a third party she would have to deal with Skip the Dishes, even though they never handled the food nor the delivery. Obviously, sensing a runaround she used the “F” word regarding not getting chicken in her chicken salad. He said he was hanging up the phone because of the swear word. The total dollar amount of the food was $123.94 before taxes. She tried contacting Skip the Dishes and after waiting on their Chat Bot line, she was disconnected from their service as well. If Applebees was a half decent company they could have sent the chicken over by courier or taxi instead of shuffling the responsibility of not making sure they had packed the order correctly at the restaurant. Disgusting customer service and poorly managed by Mark!!!! If that’s how they treat their customers, then we won’t be customers of theirs any longer. Photo of what the salad should look like (from the website) vs photo of what she got for $23.00!

The staff are very good but overall it's pretty meh. It's a chain restaurant with mass market quality food, nothing exceptional to write home about. Frankly, putting a meal together with bagged salad and pre-frozen entrees from the grocery store would be about the same and a lot cheaper. They've got pretty typical 'white people' fair on the menu. All of the servers are really nice, but the last time I was here for some reason we kept having a problem with getting my order correct. I'd ordered a pasta with no meat and the first time they brought out some completely different dish all together, then the second time they brought out the pasta but they had added chicken to it (my friend had already finished her meal so I just picked off the chicken and gave it to her). The manager was nice and give us a discount so I'm not too upset about it (I'm not strictly vegetarian but I generally don't like meat) but it was a sub-optimal dining experience.

For what it is, I give Applebee's five stars. It's not in the same stratosphere with some of the amazing places we've eaten but for a chain restaurant with generic food it's pretty darned ok. You know exactly what the food will taste like, how the drinks will be presented and the general atmosphere. We had a large group on a Friday night and they were able to accommodate. And we got a nice quiet corner which is also a bonus. Oh! And no loud blasted music, that alone deserves a five star rating. The hostess looked like she was in training but she did her best. The server was perfectly attentive. I think we also got our picture taken by the manager which was an undeserved honour.

I have not been to a Applebees in probably 20 years as we no longer have one where I live but when I was in Manitoba and saw one we knew we had to go, the disappointment started quickly as soon as we walked in the door it was a sad dark un welcoming environment hardly any customers and a lack of customer service. The first table we sat at was sticky and disgusting it was like it was coated in years un properly cleaned table dirt, we moved and same thing. I felt the tables around us and they were all the same sticky and disgusting and food on the floor under them. Watching them wash the tables I could see why, wipe the table top and then the seats on to the next but don't clean the cloth next table top and then the bench and so on. When we finally got our drinks there was lipstick mark on my glass. Food was a hard choice it felt like not a lot of choices, but we thought burgers were a safe bet when the food came and it was hardly room temperature also my burger had 0 flavour my husband wouldn't even eat it was was hands down the worst burger I have ever had. The fries would have been good if they were hot. We waited FOREVER for the bill before getting up and just standing at the front door for someone to acknowledge us if we were dishonest people we could have left without paying. I wish I could say something more than the fries were good as we were so looking forward to going here but unfortunately not so much. maybe we came on a bad night the people making the food were having an off day maybe the waitress was also having a bad day I don't like to leave bad reviews but the dirty sticky tables is not a one day thing makes me wonder how clean is their kitchen and I did get sick that night was it the food was it a coincidence I don't know. But maybe consider a deep cleaning if you have slow nights often like the night I went you definitely have the time. If the tables were not covered in thick stickiness I might have considered giving it another chance because we...

February 16, 2024: 6 of us out for Friday night dinner at 5:30 pm including 2 kids ages 10 and 13. Extremely long wait for food and the place was almost empty when we arrived. Everyone’s dinner was fine except mine. There was nothing edible on the plate. Mashed potatoes were so cold they couldn’t melt the soft butter I put on them, green beans were not cooked (I can’t even say under cooked, as they didn’t taste like any heat had been applied to them) and steak was a chewy piece of gristle with a strange chunk of fat and gristle attached to the bottom. Gag! Our waitress was doing her best but there seemed to be no other server in the place. My son, who has managed restaurants, finally got up to go search for the manager. He reported seeing that our waitress was looking after both sides of the restaurant! I don’t know if people called in sick or this is how management staffs on a Friday. None of this was our servers fault. The kitchen and management dropped the ball. I tipped our server with cash and express instructions NOT to share that tip with anyone as she was the only one who earned it. She apologized profusely and felt badly at the service and food. Finally the “manager” came over to apologize and tell me my meal was being removed from the bill because I “didn’t like it”. Wow. I clarified that I didn’t like it because it wasn’t edible due to quality and prep. We made sure she was aware we had noticed the understaffing and in no way felt anything was our servers issue. I think I should note that we didn’t see the “manager” grab an apron and help out as she should. She also gave us a $30 gift certificate which went straight in the garbage as we...
