***Update*** The owner has reached out to me, however the link they provided doesn’t work. She could never get through to Skip the Dishes either after spending an hour trying to chat with someone. My wife ordered the Oriental Chicken Salad from this location through Skip the Dishes. Skip doesn’t pick up and deliver from Applebees (not sure why they’re even used). So my wife had to drive from Westwood all the way out to Applebees at Grant Park in -30 degree weather. She picked up the two shopping bags of food and drove twenty minutes back home. As she unpacked all of the family’s food she discovered that there was no chicken in the bag for her $23.00 Oriental “Chicken” salad. Naturally she was very upset. She called Applebees and after speaking to someone on the phone she was hung up on. She called back and asked for the manager. She eventually spoke to Mark and explained how unhappy she was, he said because she ordered it through a third party she would have to deal with Skip the Dishes, even though they never handled the food nor the delivery. Obviously, sensing a runaround she used the “F” word regarding not getting chicken in her chicken salad. He said he was hanging up the phone because of the swear word. The total dollar amount of the food was $123.94 before taxes. She tried contacting Skip the Dishes and after waiting on their Chat Bot line, she was disconnected from their service as well. If Applebees was a half decent company they could have sent the chicken over by courier or taxi instead of shuffling the responsibility of not making sure they had packed the order correctly at the restaurant. Disgusting customer service and poorly managed by Mark!!!! If that’s how they treat their customers, then we won’t be customers of theirs any longer. Photo of what the salad should look like (from the website) vs photo of what she got for $23.00!

The staff are very good at the setting is nice. It's a chain restaurant with mass market quality food, so it's all good enough, but nothing exceptional to write home about. They've got pretty typical pub fair on the menu and a large but pretty standard liquor offering at the bar. All of the servers are really nice, but the last time I was here for some reason we kept having a problem with getting my order correct. I'd ordered a pasta with no meat and the first time they brought out some completely different dish all together, then the second time they brought out the pasta but they had add chicken to it (my friend had already finished her meal so I just picked off the chicken and gave it to her). The manager was nice and give us a discount so I'm not too upset about it (I'm not strictly vegetarian but I generally don't like meat) but it was a sub-optimal dining experience.

For what it is, I give Applebee's five stars. It's not in the same stratosphere with some of the amazing places we've eaten but for a chain restaurant with generic food it's pretty darned ok. You know exactly what the food will taste like, how the drinks will be presented and the general atmosphere. We had a large group on a Friday night and they were able to accommodate. And we got a nice quiet corner which is also a bonus. Oh! And no loud blasted music, that alone deserves a five star rating. The hostess looked like she was in training but she did her best. The server was perfectly attentive. I think we also got our picture taken by the manager which was an undeserved honour.

The Applebee's at Grant Park Shopping Center is a good place for kids and casual dining. Food is good, service is average to slightly above average and pricing is in line with other restaurants of similar style and quality. What impressed us the most was the care management went to ensure that the ingredients that we ordered were compatible with our sons allergies. On Wednesday nights kids meals are $2 with the purchase of an entree, making it a very attractive price point. They also currently have a promotion for $5 apps after 8pm. If you are planning on going to the adjacent movie theater this is a good place for a bite before the show.
