The menu has been carefully crafted with both traditional and modern favorites hidden with a few surprises to add a layer of dimension and bold flavor. Our dream is to bring the soul of India to Winnipeg through Copper chimney delicacies. From the moment you enter our staff will make you feel welcomed and we will always take our guest suggestions to improve and excel while we provide you with the ultimate dining experience.Copper Chimney was opened in mid of 2015 by a two talented chef with a collective vision of bringing cultured flavors of food by using “Mother” like cooking from different regions of India. Our Team is focused on making Copper Chimney dining experience one of a kind. Our passion is a contemporary restaurant offering dining experiences to satisfy all aspects of fine cuisine, in a vibrant and trendsetting ambience. Spice is a dried seed, fruit, root, bark, or vegetative substance primarily used for flavoring, coloring of food. Spices may have extra use usually medicinal, religious ritual, cosmetics or perfume production, or as a vegetable. For example, turmeric roots are consumed as a vegetable and garlic as an antibiotic. Spices were among the most demanded and expensive products available in Europe in the Middle Ages, the most common being black pepper, cinnamon, cumin, nutmeg, ginger and cloves. Copper Chimney uses traditional Indian kitchen equipment to blend together many Indian spices to provide our guests with different flavors and colors of food from all regions in India.

This evening we decided to dine outside our comfort zone and try something brand new. We decided to check out Copper Chimney located at their new location near Polo Park (formerly Perkins/Movado). After providing our vaccination records, we were seated promptly. After informing our server that we were new both to the restaurant and the cuisine, she was helpful as to menu selections. We decided to try the appetizer sampler platter, the lamb kofta, chicken lababdar, and a small portion of the naan bread. After a somewhat long wait, our appetizer platter arrived piping hot! This was a great option to try a bunch of stuff. Everything was tasty, fresh, and was presented nicely. One thing I will note here is that our entrees arrived before we were finished our appetizers! A shame we didn't get a pause between courses. Our entrees were bright, and colourful and tasted great. The chicken lababdar was a tad spicier than my palate was used to but the rice made it all work! The only other thing to note was it would have been nice to have more interaction with our server to check in on us to see how we were enjoying our meal since it was our first time trying Indian food. A pity. Overall, I would give this place a solid 7/10! You should definately try it.

We recently tried this restaurant and overall had a great experience. We ordered five different dishes, and everything was fresh and flavorful. You can request to adjust the spice level, which was great since we prefer it not too spicy. The naan (we got the 4-mix) was excellent—fresh and fluffy—and the papadam was crispy and tasty, with a nice touch of caraway seeds. The paneer in butter chicken-style sauce was especially delicious. The dosa was delicious and came on a traditional thali with assorted sauces, small sides, and some lentils. The atmosphere is a bit dated and a little dark, but the place is very clean. Portions are very generous, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout. One disappointment was the biryani, which felt overpriced at nearly $20—most of it was just rice. The meal for two came to around $80. All in all, very authentic food and a satisfying experience, with just a few small drawbacks.

Responding to your response to my comment:

Firstly, there was no misunderstanding. We ordered Sprite with our main course, but it didn’t arrive until we were almost finished eating. It’s a canned drink that doesn't need to be prepared at the restaurant, so there’s really no excuse for the delay. Your server seemed distracted, talking to coworkers, and the drink arrived far too late. It’s common sense that mocktails take time to prepare, but we waited, expecting it to come with our meal.

Additionally, if you’re serving house recipes, that should be clearly stated on the menu. We expected a typical version of the dish, not your own twist, and the “your version” label was unclear. We asked for it to be spicy, and if that wasn’t possible, the server should’ve communicated that it couldn’t be made spicy. Instead, we were given crushed green chilies to add ourselves, which wasn’t the point. If that’s how it’s served, we feel it could be better prepared at home. It seems like there’s a lack of attention to customer preferences and service quality.

When we asked the manager to check the cameras regarding the delay, they completely ignored our request and started talking about unrelated matters instead. We didn’t leave angry because there was no point in arguing with an unprofessional manager who didn’t know how to address the issue. She was more authoritative than polite, especially with new guests celebrating a special occasion.

The staff seemed disinterested from the start—no greetings, no effort to make us feel welcome. And when the manager finally came to our table, she started with a rude attitude rather than offering polite customer service. It’s clear that your team needs better training in customer service and communication. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was truly disappointing.

Heads up to anyone thinking of eating at Copper Chimney on Madison St, Winnipeg! What was supposed to be a special celebration turned into a disaster. The service was careless and inattentive, our food was messed up, and the mocktails were downright awful. Staff were more interested in gossiping with each other than doing their jobs, giving customers zero priority. When asked about problems, they responded with nonsense and arguments instead of solutions. Orders were served late, sloppy, and without any care. Absolutely not the place for any special occasion — or any...

I was Driving across Canada with my family and stopped in at Lenscrafters @ Polo Park and I had to get a new prescription because I lost my glasses (Velma lol). I asked one of the workers for a recommendation for Indian food and was told about this place and specifically was recommended the samosas. The worker told me that every time her husband leaves town she buys this as a comfort food. Her being comforted by this restaurant told me enough that it was worth trying. We got an Indian platter which was delicious, the garlic naan was great and the samosas were huge and delicious. My wife said the Tamarind sauce reminded her of how her grandma made it and because of this we ordered an extra larger order to bring back home to Ontario with us. The Atmosphere of the restaurant with the beautiful art murals to Indian Cultural monuments and Hindu/Buddhist Gods make it a very welcoming. There was this waterfall thing with cups that made sitting and waiting for the takeout order feel relaxing. My Kids also got Chocolate/almond ice cream and me and my wife got mango smoothies and they tasted great and were loved by all. Our order 2 mango smoothies 2 Chocolate/Almond icecreams 2 garlic naans 8 Samosas and Indian platter with 5/6 different things. I just want to thank the kind servers, the great cooks and the word of mouth that introduced this place to my family...
