I have visited this café several times before. The coffee was always average but not bad. However, when I came a few days ago, I was really disappointed. The coffee tasted terrible, and the plant-based milk completely ruined the flavor.
I told the barista that I didn’t like the coffee and asked if there was anything we could do about it. He said no and turned his back on me. I waited politely until other customers placed their orders and then explained again that the drink tasted bad. He asked if I had tried their coffee before, and I said yes, I had visited the café a few times. Then he asked what I wanted, so I said either a refund or a replacement of the same value.
He clearly seemed annoyed, and after a long wait, I finally received a new drink — but it was a small one instead of the large one I had paid for. I didn’t say anything further because my Sunday morning was already spoiled, even though I had hoped to spend it in a cozy atmosphere.
Also, I personally don’t like it when desserts are served wrapped in plastic film — it feels cheap, and I could have had the same experience at home.
P.S. I understand students might be working here, but please train them to prepare coffee properly rather than just pouring milk into coffee, adding foam with a spoon, and calling it a cappuccino. And please consider changing the almond milk brand because it really affects the taste.
On the positive side, the atmosphere itself is...
Read moreThis place is a staple that my friends and I have been going to for years, it has always been such a cozy place to go to and food is always served quickly and tasted good. My last few visits have been have been quite disheartening due to a particular employee, I’ve had a handful of interactions with this person and each time is the same. As the person taking other people’s orders and usually being the first person people see when they first come in, this employee has always met me with a rude tone and mutters under their breath about their dissatisfaction with my order (I always just get a Apple pecan salad and a medium hazelnut hysteria) it has gotten to the point where on numerous occasions I’ve heard other people in other tables comment about their interaction with this employee. Even other employees have given me a knowing look as they see my interaction with their colleague. This is a place I genuinely love going to and spending time with friends but lately it has been a place we choose to avoid. I’m choosing not to reveal the name of this employee but I would like if management overall would discuss with their team about common customer service standards.
I never leave comments or reviews and I genuinely wish no harm to anyone or this business, I would just love to be able to have our...
Read moreCozy little shop that has a welcoming, warm, bustling atmosphere that seems to be rare in in Winnipeg. The location used to be a fast food restaurant and so they are geared more towards a lunch crowd rather than a coffee-focused crowd. In terms of food, I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheddar (really more like bacon, egg, and American cheese), which was served on a nice ciabatta bun. For $4.50, that's all you get though, and it you want ketchup or hot sauce it costs extra. It was also really small, on top of that. The coffee was nice, but nothing to write home about either. They serve De Luca espresso and coffee so it's good quality. I ordered a small latte, which the servers weren't actually sure how big that was or how much espresso was in it, in terms of shots/ounces. The milk was also extremely foamy, so it was more like a cappuccino if you find something like that important. You order at the counter and the servers bring your food to you, which is a nice touch. The restaurant area itself is very welcoming with lots of varied types of seating, from booths, to high tables, to armchairs. If you're looking for a nice place to go and get some work done or for a local place for lunch, this place isn't bad. If you're going for a well-made espresso drink and good food, I'm not sure this is the...
