Ordered from here for the first time since I was a little kid, all the food we got was good, some dishes were the best I'd ever had and some were good but not as good as at other places.
The good: Their lemon chicken is crispy, the sauce is quite literally the best lemon sauce I've ever had. It's so bright, lemony and fresh tasting, if a little runny, the flavour more then makes up for how runny it is. The curried beef was just as good or better then curried beef from other restaurants, the chow mein tastes like chow mein from pretty well everywhere, it's definitely yummy and what one expects it to taste like. The Szcheuan Shrimp was the perfect blend of spice and flavour, the shrimp were cooked beautifully. They said 45 minutes for delivery but arrived after only 20 minutes, we were pleasantly surprised by the speed of service.
The okay: Their sauces are all very thin, you need the rice that comes with your order to help soak it all up, this isn't a bad thing but when you make a plate with multiple items on it all the sauce run together and mix, the right mix and it's great, the wrong mix and not so much. The egg rolls are nothing special, just average generic egg rolls, not bad but not as good as those from other restaurants or even some frozen variations I've had.
The bad: Sweet n sour pork. It didn't taste bad, it was eddible and ok, but I would certainly say it's the worst I've ever had. The sauce is great, the pork they used is simply better suited for a different sauce and doesn't work well with the sweet n sour, it's a shame because it's normally a favourite of mine.
We'd order from here again, but I think I'll skip the sweet n sour pork...
Read moreAmong the best Chinese Food in the city! The Ginger Beef was easily the best we've ever had. Crispy, Saucy, Tangy, Spicy. The Beef with Mixed Vegetables was also probably the best we've experienced. Similar to most places, but a step above. Lean and full of flavour. Fried Rice was done to perfection. Tasty without being too salty or tasting too much like soya sauce like some places. Chicken Balls were as you get from most places. Mostly white meat, not too greasy, maybe a bit too much batter, but fine. Still looking for a replacement for our beloved Oceana Chicken (from Oceana restaurant which closed about 10 years ago), or the Honey Glazed Chicken from the Gourmet Chinese restaurant (which closed about 5 years ago), and was hoping that the Hot and Sour Chicken would be their "equivalent". No such luck. It's definitely good, just not what we were hoping for, and man, is it spicy! It sure packs a punch! The prices are a little steeper than some others, but you do get a 10% discount on cash orders, and the quality and taste are worth it. Pleasant service, and the food was ready when promised. I'd give it 4.5...
Read moreIt was mediocre. There are a lot of better Chinese food choices. The squid was not fresh, the Kung Pao Chicken should have been called Kung Pao Carrots (mostly carrots with sliced broccoli and cauliflower stems. Not much chicken. Clearly their money - maker and probably why it was recommended) The Dragon Palace special seafood was more chicken and pork than seafood...chicken and pork in their house special seafood dish? The beef and tofu hotpot was good but clearly another stir fried dish served in the hotpot. The special chow fun was okay. I'd realistically score it 2.5 but they only have whole star choices. Service was friendly. Prices were reasonable. We are more used to authentic style and their Western choices may be a better option if that's the...
