India Palace Express Restaurant — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Absolutely disgusted with the service and the food I received, I just so happened to stumble across a suspicious looking hair in my food that most definitely wasn’t a head hair me nor none of the people accompanying me had a beard, the chef didn’t have a beard, and the lady’s most definitely didn’t have a beard. When this was pointed out to the people behind the counter all I got was a “I’m sorry” and “I’ll bring you more out”, I politely asked for my money back and got told flat out no then they left us sat at the table with no further explanation, on top of this my family is in the city from another country and a member of my family ordered from the counter on two separate occasions, he was charged the full amount of his meal TWICE while only ordering a 6 dollar Item on his second trip up, when he questioned the workers about this they told us that he only ordered once that they put everything on the same bill and called him a liar, he paid 2 separate times 24 dollars each time, after all this commotion had ensued the employees then told us that we somehow owed them more money than we had originally paid??? Worst experience ever not only was there hair in the food the customer service was horrendous and being called a liar is down right wrong for a business! If I could give 0...

The korma dishes were delicious. It would be nice if they noted in their menu/brochure/flyer that the listed price was for a large size. I ordered on the phone and each time she asked Regular or Large, I assumed she was referring to the notation in the flyer that Large's cost $10 more. I was not given a total price on the phone. When I received my order I found out the regulars were smaller than we needed (and cost about $2 less). I also asked on the phone how many nan came with the $3.99 Cheese Nan. I was told 2. Tuns out when I received my order and phoned in again it was only 1 (pricy!). Plus they use cottage cheese- not the cream cheese listed in the flyer. I had also advised I was using the $5 flyer coupon, which I was told to bring. When I arrived the coupon was not taken into account, which I remembered while walking away. I returned and she pointedly said I had not produced it at the check-out... so she clearly remembered but didn't remind me?? I guess I expected a little better service as a first-time customer, at a restaurant that was not busy (told only 10-5 min. prep time required on the phone, no one in the dining room, and only 1 other order to be seen...

We have ordered from India Palace many times, and consistently have good experiences with them and their food. The food was ready quickly, and was nice and hot even after we got it home. We got the large size butter chicken (with complimentary basmati rice), 3 veggie samosas, and 3 freshly made garlic naan.

The butter chicken was delicious, and the chicken pieces were very tender, and easy to devour for my two kids as well. The garlic naan was fun to tear apart and dip in the butter chicken sauce. The rice was light, fluffy, and lightly seasoned, as was the naan. Everything was just right!

Although we ordered from them just last night we are already planning a return tonight, to try some additional dishes that I read about other people enjoying (in the reviews).

One more thing: they have redone the inside, and it looks nice! They have taken good care of the outside of the building too. Everything inside is so nice and clean. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. We look forward to going back...
