Friends Donair and Shawarma — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Im a donair connoisseur.... and Friends Donair and Shawarma, was AMAZING! I skipped and got two donairs and poutine and it was great, I enjoyed everything and every bite! My wife is severely allergic to sesame which Tahini is apart of that family and she was a little bit scared to eat this food as we had some experiences at other places from cross contamination and not knowing if tahini is in the sauces.. But hey, she gave it a try and loved it did not feel any allergies. The owner even called and thanked us for supporting local and told us that they doubled checked our order.. what's even better is that they are close to my house. So if I do pickup I don't gotta drive too far haha. Just one question does the garlic sauce contain any Tahini? I got her to try the sweet sauce and she loved it and did not feel sick!! I will definitely be ordering here more and even dine in and bringing a few...

Tried this place out based on the really positive reviews and photos but I was disappointed. I ordered through door dash and the food came an hour and 20 minutes later than expected through the app, and an hour after I got notification it had been picked up. When it arrived the inside of the bag was soaked from steam trapping I guess so the containers had collapsed and were mushed and cold. Hoping the food would redeem the experience but disappointed again. The donair poutine had little to no cheese on it and looked very different from images posted here. Donair meat also looked different. Tasted OK but was cold. Came with garlic sauce on top which was unexpected but the garlic sauce was good. Chicken on rocks rice also looked very different from images posted here. Maybe it was an off day, maybe it was issues with door dash. I would like to give it...

Following up on the review I promised the owner... easy 5 stars. Drove 30 minutes across town to try it and it was definitely worth it. Owner is a very friendly guy! Had a nice conversation with him while waiting for my order. You can tell he's really passionate about his food and satisfying his customers. Tries to avoid frozen things and keeps everything fresh, especially the fries which are hand cut. Donair was very tasty and the meat was tender and juicy. Had a nice selection of exotic drinks called Barbican which were also good. The only thing I will comment on is the sweet sauce. The sauce was a little more garlicky than sweet and bit runny but was no problem for a ukrainian guy like me who loves garlic. Thanks for an awesome experience buddy!
