This is probably one of the tastiest and unique vietnamese restaurant experiences I ever had. A few of us decided to visit this place. I've been here before. The only issue I have is the parking but that is all forgiven considering the quality of the food.
My friends and I ordered a few spring rolls to share, both vegetarian and meat. They were crispy, hot and delicious. Vietnamese spring rolls are among the best I've had. Excellent. I salivate thinking about them.
I had tendon, rare steak and cooked flank in my pho. The soup has a sweetness to it but very deep flavor as well. It was a very delightful soup. I add basil, lime and chili to make enhance the broth. A definite winner. Again one of the best phos I've had in Canada and even the world.
One of my friends got the deluxe bun (vermicelli bowl). It arrived looking like a piece of art with its arrangement of mouthwatering grilled meat, succulent meatballs, lush vegetables, delectable cane shrimp and of course their heavenly spring roll. I dont eat pork so I tried it without the meats. Still a winner.
To make this culinary experience memorable and different, a lovely complementary fruit platter was presented to us. A lovely array of pineapple, apple, pear, grapes and sweet mandarins. We definitely did not expect that. In fact, I do not recall ever receiving this at a Vietnamese restaurant in Canada. These little touches reflect the character of the restaurant. Exquisite.
Winnipeg boasts some of the finest vietnamese restaurants in Canada and this is definitely one of them. I'm from Toronto but this place puts a lot of them back...
Read moreThis place has really good vietnamese food that has yet to be matched by any of the other vietnamese places I've been to. The pho is masterfully made with good size portions, and their vietnamese style wings with sweet chili is one of the best things I've eaten in a really long time. Where this place falls short is the service, and by fall short, I mean pretty bad, which is unfortunate. I've eaten here 4 times and each time I've found myself sitting with an empty glass of water for 10, 15, even 20 minutes straight while our waiter/waitress bounces from table to counter. On one occasion, a group of men who seemed to be friends with the owners sat down about 5 to 10 minutes after we had already been seated. However, they got their bowls of pho about 5 minutes after they sat down. Meanwhile, I had to wait 10 minutes to get out appetizer, another 8 for our rice (which we requested with our appetizer), and another 20-25 minutes for our pho. By the time we had even got our pho, the group of men had finished their bowls and were sitting for a good 20 minutes. If this place even had the most standard service, it would've been an easy 5 stars, but because it's so bad, I cant go...
Read moreSooo we thought we’d give this restaurant a try seeing as the reviews left from others were nothing but positive. As a first time goer, I came in with an open mind, and seeing how busy it was for a Monday at lunch hour I was excited. Seeing a busy place usually means the restaurant is great right ? Wrong. Aside from the sweet little elderly man bussing tables I was not impressed. My food took almost an hour (pho, spring rolls, honey chicken and bubble tea) it was cold, bland, and mediocre. Mid way (45 mins since arriving) we hadn’t received our bubble tea so I went up to inquire and ask if we can get it before our food comes out and she said sure. 25 minutes later she comes over and tells us she has no pearls and only jelly for the tea which only took 2 seconds to tell us. So we declined on the bubble tea. Unfortunately I will not be returning, and unfortunately...
