Rice Bowl Restaurant — Restaurant in Winnipeg

On very cold winters such as the ones we had this month, it is nice to know of a place that serves really good soups and hot dishes. We stopped into Rice Bowl wpg and I was craving soup. I tried the Wonton soup, the chicken broth is very good, it reminded me of when my Ninang made it for myself and siblings back home in the province. I also tried the deluxe chow mein with bbq pork. Mmmmm Sarap! Although not sure if the noodles was over cooked or the sauces mixed up in the dish made it taste like that. We still ate it all though, cleaned our plates. I recommend the Shanghai pepper beef noodle dish. If you are a meat lover, you cannot go wrong with this dish. If you can make it past all the food and still hungry, we did not see a dessert menu hence the 4 star rating. My friend tried the Spicy fried tilapia, depending on what spicy is on your scale to us it was not that spicy. Overall, we will come back here again to try...

We normally eat at Viva, just down the street, but it was closed last night, so needed a place to eat in the neighbourhood. Picked Rice Bowl from reviews, and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by the owner who helped us make our order describing dishes with great enthusiasm for their taste and quality. She combines the Vietnamese and Philippine traditions of her two parents on the menu. We had the beef stew--beef was super tender and tasty, spiced very subtly. Also had the lemon grass chicken with tofu, delicious. And has the special Philippine pork dish with these two beautiful sauces, decadent! This place isn't fancy in decor but it the food is top notch. Great value. I highly recommend it. Oh one thing, they put pad tai on the menu because it was being asked for all the time. Been looking for a great Filipino restaurant, so went there yesterday to get lunch for the first time around 1pm. The girl.lady at the front was very sweet and welcoming. Gave me a menu and even asked me if there is anything specific i was looking for. I told her what i was desiring and asked her for recommendations I ended up getting Mushroom fried rice and some kind of dish with beef stew style (spicy) but not too spicy. Ordered the spring rolls(16pcs) under one order. When i tried it at the office...well OMG i was in love, the stewed beef and tons of sauce to go with the mushroom fried rice, it was incredible!!!! I told all my employees about it and they are willing to try it! I will always go back again 100percent..finally, real food, decent portions for the price for sure. Keep up the great work :)...
