Finding a venue was the worst part about planning our wedding for my partner and I. We poured over the “All Things Wedding in Manitoba” Facebook page. We sifted through spreadsheets from friends who had gotten married earlier this year. And when we finally got to an in-person location scout, we crashed our car on the way to a venue. By April, we knew we would have to push the wedding to next year if we didn't nail down a location soon. The idea of prolonging the planning made us both shudder. So we doubled down, and it was during one of these frantic late-night searches that we stumbled upon the Saddlery. As Winnipeg history buffs, the old brick building hit a sweet spot for both of us. And as a person who has had a million different jobs, I found it funny that I had worked there as a hostess during its Don Pedro’s Mexican grill era. We wanted a venue that could accommodate our 70-person guest list. One where we could hold the ceremony + reception in the same space. Something within our not-extravagant budget, with cozy lighting, good food, and room for a bumping dance floor. The Saddlery had all of this and more. My Dad is a musician, and we had asked him to woo our guests with a set to kick off the party. We went there for drinks before the wedding so he and my best friend/our wedding DJ could take a look. The Saddlery manager and wedding contact, Roula, was working that night. She very graciously answered questions as my Dad dreamed up the greatest one-man classic rock set of our dreams. To say our wedding was a dream day and night is an understatement. Walking through a room stuffed with the people we love most in the world, towards our wooden ceremony arch (rented from the Saddlery!) and the gorgeous flowers that adorned it (shout out to Shop Public!) was absolutely magical. The rest of the night was just as beautiful. We took in our artfully laid-out floor plan (suggested by Roula) from our sweetheart table view. We enjoyed every moment of the lovely atmosphere, the excellent and intuitive service from all the staff, the way the room gave space for old friends and family to chat and new connections to grow. We are fortunate enough to have a flood of loving and supportive family and friends who made our wedding possible, alongside a wedding planner (and then a back-up when she got sick) who helped out with logistics (definitely recommend!). As we took in our dream party a wave of vindication flooded over us. The venue where you choose to have your wedding does matter. And we were very lucky to have found our perfect spot.

(From December 2016) It's in the old don Pedro/pink taco location. They have definitely made the space beautiful. It's gorgeous and bright. I use to feel it was kind of dirty but now it's very comfortable. The food items were good, but I wasn't wowed by what we ordered. My expectations were high because of the visual perhaps? The bison nachos is very generous in size. The mac and cheese was very creamy. The mussels were good, larger than thermea ones for sure. The desserts were very much in the ok category. I liked the size, but I'm also not fond of coconut and it turned out 2/3 had it. So it might just not be my taste preference. The carrot cake was the best... Possibly because it didn't have coconut, i did eat all that piece. I liked the vanilla ice cream on the center. Not a really high end dessert but ok if you want some variety in the end. At the same time I'm not sure if this restaurant is trying to be that high end. The tea selection is bad. Higgens and Burke (typical of a lot of restaurants, but I don't agree with it). Not much for non alcoholic drinks considering they have a full bar, so it seems like they can make most bar drinks but you won't find specialty ones so much like what we had at the roost. They are still working out the kinks. Talked to management. The staff was exceptionally friendly on our visit. The space is so nice, I do hope they improve the non alcoholic section so I can have a nice drink there.

Came for their Valentines pre-fix menu. $29 for an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Great price. My appetizer was the Mexican Street Corn with chipotle aioli and feta. Corn isn't in season so it isn't the most intuitive thing to have it on the menu. Needless to say I regretted ordering it. The cob was very small with small dry kernels and lacked the punchy flavour Mexican corn usually has. 1 star. For the main, I had the New York steak and shrimp. Steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. A tad on the chewy side, but for the price paid well worth it. Shrimp cooked just till tender and great char flavour. Standard mashed potato and roast veggie sides. 3 stars. My friend got the chicken bruschetta. The chicken breasts were cooked to absolute perfection. The meat was juicy and super tender. 4.5 stars. For dessert I had the vegan banana cake with toasted almonds. Extremely unpleasant dense cake, overly sweet relatively plain icing, standard toasted almonds. I honestly do not think it should even be categorized as cake. 1 star. My friend had the blueberry and lemon curd cheesecake. Rich and flavourful cheesecake with an excellent texture. Blueberry and lemon curd are nice touches to elevate the cake. 4 stars. Service was great, and the overall feel and ambience of the restaurant is nice. While I wasn't necessarily wowed by the overall experience, I wouldn't be against visiting this place again.

We had our wedding here and we had the best time!! I would give it a 4.7/5! It was a beautiful venue for the wedding. It was absolutely gorgeous! The food was delicious. A lot of people told us it was some of their favourite wedding food they’ve ever had. They do a great job with helping set up and they took everything down the night of. They accepted my cake delivery and set that up for me. I also just love how the venue looks with the exposed brick and the hardwood floors. I also think it was reasonably priced and have no issues with what we were charged. I think everything was very fair! A couple points I’d make there are a lot of pillars in the venue which do impact your guests viewing. Nothing can be done about this as it’s structural. But it is something to consider about the venue. the speaker system is not great for speeches. So unfortunately it’s harder to hear for the guests in the back. the food was delicious! We also did the taco bar for a midnight snack and literally everyone was raving about them! For dinner we had pork tenderloin or red pepper Asiago chicken Roula the manager overall was good. She got the job done and worked with us to make our perfect night. She was easy going about a lot of things and really I have no complaints as the day went off perfect. But she is not great at communicating, and she will be the first to tell you that. So as long as you know it will take time for her to reply, then you will be good. When it came closer too I would text her if I had any questions which needed to be answered in a timely manner. Roula is not there to hold your hand through this process lol so ensure you compile your list of questions and ideas, send her big long emails and know what you want to discuss when you see her. She appreciates a prepared bride and groom. But I sent lots of big emails and she did get back to me with answers. -I also recommend giving your credit card at the beginning of the night so you are not looking for it at the end when it comes time to pay. looking at other venues the saddlery is the best priced, again I thought all prices were very fair at the venue. my wedding had 130 people and it fit perfectly. I think anything over 150 would feel tight! I had my family go in before to set up my decor but the saddlery would set up for you if you preferred this

I would 100% recommend having your wedding at the saddlery! It was an awesome venue and we had the best time. It was so beautiful and I...

Staff were really accommodating for the large reservation and time adjustments for Saturday April 20th.

We were on atleast drink 2 or 3 before we kinda just forced the server to take orders.

Every steak order wasn't cooked right, only two complained and got the steaks cooked again.

Poutine uses grated mozzerella not cheese curds. Really not authentic poutine. My poutine order was supposed to be poutine with the Mac and cheese and bison meat. Server brought out a regular poutine then I commented it was wrong and he came back with the poutine with just bison meat on top. I didn't want to complain anymore.

One person never got her meal but just shared her partners because the food took so long she didn't want to wait. Another person had asked to have certain ingredients in the reciped removed ie: like no tomatoes in the salad but her meal definetly didn't have that followed.

I had brought a cake to do there for the birthday (which i gave as a heads up prior with the reservations), didn't end up doing it. The service was sooo slow to start with actually ordering and getting food but the end the server had the bills super quickly before I got the chance. With the chaos I just didn't even bother brought the cake back home to do there with everyone. Also had put the cake on what seemed like a side table and had a weird interaction of the server being like that's my table to use so I put it on a chair against the wall. I mean he was putting the water and dirty dishes there I guess. Would have rather just had water at the table to self pour because I had to go over there a few times for people who needed water refills.

Paying was awkward server overexplained the tap function like I've never tapped before. I would have tipped less but he hoovered over my shoulder so I felt awkward and gave the middle option.

Was surprised my bill didn't have any discount because it included the steak meal they had to redo.

The restaurant just must have been too busy. The main seating area wasn't busy but the more private room had a function it appeared.

Honest answer wouldn't go again and wouldn't recommend to friends. I was apologizing to the group about chosing this place with all...
