There was 3 of us that came in to try this sushi place. We walk by it every time we're at St. vital and never thought to give it a try. We were right to never try it because no matter how good people say the food is, the service speaks for itself.
Walking in, it was fairly empty: a family of 5, a couple and a single person sitting by the counter. I had to give the benefit of a doubt and assume they also receive skip orders so I was pretty patient when the waitress ignored us for the first minute we walked in.
After our existence has been acknowledged, we were told to sit anywhere and the waitress disappeared to the back, walking past our table. At any good restaurant, a menu would be provided right when we sit down but here no one said a word or told us to do anything different. We sat confused for 10 minutes (yes I timed it) as 2 waitresses walked by not saying a word to our table. And the 1 infamous waitress who walked by our table initially returned to our area to tend to EMPTY tables around us. Again, not saying a word.
It was after the 3rd time -- when the waitress, walked by our table, made eye contact and still did not say a word -- we decided to leave.
As customers who decided to eat at a restaurant in a mall aside from their competition (the food court), you would think they would give good service.
Never tried the food because we were never given the chance...
Read moreOrdered through SkiptheDishes and picked up. The wait was not bad, but a bit on the longer side for the amount I ordered. It was delayed, but nobody was even in the restaurant. It was probably due to the other SkiptheDishes orders.
I've consistently been content about the orders I've made here in the past. Their oyster tempura is my favourite, as well as the chicken katsu. With the sushi, their rice consistency is not one of my favourites. With the ramens, the spicy miso is probably the only one I'd recommend.
With this certain order, I went to test out the 2 things I'm comparing every sushi restaurant with, and fell pretty flat. Next time, I'd stick to the other things on the menu that I already enjoy.
SUSHI PIZZA: First 'thin crust' type I've encountered. Not a big fan because it makes it chewy instead of crunchy. Toppings were also on the lower quality.
DYNAMITE ROLL: Shrimp was good, but it didn't have as much ingredients as other dynamites I've had. The tempura crumbs were also not very crunchy.
Overall, spend a little more, grab more a la carte menu items and you'd be...
Read moreIn my opinion, Sushi Gozen is the best restaurant in the entire city when balancing price vs value.
For what you pay, you will not find better Sushi in Winnipeg.
The staff have always been very friendly when I take my family to dine in. The service is quick, and the sushi always tastes excellent.
Often, my family orders Sushi Gozen through the skip the dishes app. The food is always excellent, even after the road trip, and delivery time from order has never been more than an hour.
My family really enjoys sushi, so I have tried many different restaurants over the years. There are a small number of restaurants that can boast better sushi, but the price tag definitely reflects that. I can't stress enough, what you get for what you pay makes this my...
