Second Cup Café — Restaurant in Winnipeg

I normally love Second Cup but my most recent experience was a shame. The drink was not made half-sweet like I requested and the lemon poppyseed loaf was rock-hard; I did not realize until I got home since I popped it in my bag and didn't think twice. The location downtown by Hydro is fantastic and the food is always fresh.

The St. Vital mall location should really re-evaluate their food quality and what they serve. If the food is not fresh and stale, do not sell it. I would rather be told, "sorry we are out" than be served something I cannot eat because it is old, stale and gross.

I used to love love love Second Cup. But I dunno what’s happened in the past couple years but literally every single time I’ve ordered a latte, it’s weak as hell in flavour! Clearly not using a dark roast and skimping on the grind and not pressing it tight prior to drip. As a coffee fanatic, I know they are clearly cutting corners to reduce their costs and willingly giving substandard product to customers. I’m fed up with having to ask for my espresso to be made properly. Went to second cup this morning around 9:30am, and the service was half and half, the tall young girl who took my order was kind and greeted me with a smile, the shorter older lady was rude, and abrupt. It almost seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else, before making my coffee, she made two other people's drink orders who paid after me, and then on top of it had to finish whatever was on her phone. My coffee was supposed to be a large, but it was filled to a medium, in a large cup. I really like ordering from second cup, but i think if I see that lady working again, I'd probably just go to another coffee...
