REVISED Peter Shelley the general manager is amazing!! He had us back and truly showed us what the Tavern is all about. It was a night and day experience this time around. The service was phenomenal (shout out to Dakota!) and they were fairly busy this Friday evening so that was awesome. Dakota recommended the Jambalaya which was guaranteed GF and it was amazing! Lots of chicken, lots of shrimp, it was delicious. My husband had the Tavern burger and said it was fantastic. Peter came over to see how we enjoyed our dinner/service and took the time to chat with us. He really took care of us tonight and for that we are truly grateful. We will definitely be back, 💯!!!

I was very disappointed with our visit. There are very few options for a person with Celiac disease. After some discussion with the manager about what I could safely eat (salad- what a surprise), when my Bacon cesar salad (no croutons) finally came, there was no bacon on it! It was basically lettuce with VERY little cheese and a small skwewer of chicken. Then the waitress automatically upcharged me from the "rail" vodka to the "top shelf" vodka because she said the rail vodka was made with wheat but the top shelf was not (even though they both are). This is obviously not a known fact but distilled spirits have the gluten proteins removed during the distillation process making them safe for Celiacs. This is supported by the Candian and American Celiac Associations. So I could have had the happy hour priced rail vodka if she had simply asked me. I wasnt sure why she didn't speak to me about that, especially after all the questions I had about the food! Very disappointed with our visit, we...

Our first time trying the Tavern on King Edward in Winnipeg, MB on July 1, 2025 was absolutely excellent from start to finish! After hearing about the place through TikTok, my girlfriend and I felt like it was a cool, new spot to check out. The menu items were varied and presented lots of great options to choose from. All of our food and drinks were absolutely wonderful and we were already discussing what we’d order the next time we come back for our second visit. Our server Lexy did a fantastic job and made us feel so welcome and comfortable as soon as we sat down. I especially liked the concept of playing different music videos throughout service and I felt it added a nice ambience to the whole setting. The location of Tavern on King Edward is a bit far to go for us but based on our excellent first time experience, I would love to return again and again to have more amazing experiences at this awesome restaurant. Making the journey there to have a great time, enjoy some wonderful food and drink in a comfortable environment with friendly staff will always be worth the trip. I’d recommend the Tavern on King Edward to all my friends and family and to anyone who is looking for an excellent dining experience. This place is new to the Winnipeg market but I think they have the intangibles, knowledge, food and drink offerings and overall attitude to become a Winnipeg staple for years to come. The Tavern on King Edward in Winnipeg MB is next level when it comes to a dining experience and they have my support all the way. I look forward to many more awesome experiences for years to come...

The food was quite good. The warm cookie skillet was the best way to end the meal. However, service was slow despite them being well staffed and not a lot of people dining. This was during happy hour. It took a while for them to seat us (no line up) and some time to take our order/food to come out. We were pretty forgiving and the food tasted great so I was ready to give 5 stars immediately after dessert. They didn't check on us at all after dropping off dessert which I wouldn't have cared as long as they ask us if we need anything else upon collecting the plate. We never got the opportunity to ask for the bill because our server was nowhere to be seen. We waited probably 15 almost 20 mins after finishing our dessert. I'd understand if the restaurant was busy but it wasn't. We needed to leave already and nobody cared. Someone other than our server finally checked on us. Once our server came with the bill, they apologized but the vibe was spoiled. Don't get me wrong the servers are friendly, friendlier than a lot of restaurants but what we experienced wasn't acceptable. I would still come back after this bad experience because the food was good. My star rating isn't changing unless we're wowed with the service the next time we come in Also, as much as the black utensils fit the aesthetic of the restaurant. I don't think people prefer to eat with utensils where the coating is all scratched up. I didn't mind it too much but overtime its not going...

Had breakfast here today...great dining experience! Service was great, food was delicious! They started by giving us complimentary focaccia toastetts which is also what they use for their pizza crust. It was crispy and flavorful. If you like the corner brownie you'll love their pizza! My boyfriend had the huevos rancheros and loved them! The eggs were cooked to perfection and the sauces (requested on the side) were the perfect compliment. The side of tortilla chips had a hint of lime flavor which was a fun surprise! I had the tavern terrier breakfast which was the basic eggs, bacon, hash browns and sourdough toast. The eggs were great and the bacon was cooked to my liking. The hash browns, while not traditional were hot and crispy. The server was attentive and knowledgeable. They also have a dog friendly patio AND doggie menu! We are definitely going back for appies and dinner! The huevos plate was $14.99 and the terrier was $16.99. We both left full! PS. The music they were playing was '80s! And not hair metal '80s. But the good stuff like the Smiths, Thompson Twins, Culture Club and Tears for Fears to name a few.

We had high hopes for this new spot, but left disappointed. Our 5:30 pm reservation didn’t see food arrive until 7:15 pm. Service was painfully slow — our server rarely checked in, and when the food finally came, there were no plates, cutlery, or napkins. When cutlery did arrive, it was peeling black paint — not exactly appetizing. My soup was a mess, with cheese spilled over the bowl and spoon, and no attempt to clean it up. I was hosting business guests, and it was frankly embarrassing. While the servers were friendly and the ambiance is stylish with great decor, the service and food quality really need improvement. My colleagues liked their burgers and fries, I think they were just being polite as they didn't finish their food, but at $20–30 each, you can find better elsewhere. Here’s hoping they can match their cool atmosphere with better execution.
