Okay, I constantly give this location an opportunity to shine but everytime is a fail, again and again... here is an honest review based off of my last 4-5 experiences!
We arrived at 4:45(and requested the patio, and there was max 5 or 6 tables in the restaurant) and didn't see a server until AFTER 5 pm!!! We at this point had our drink and food order, which we gave him.
We waited over 20 minutes(I'm not exadurating) for our beverages, at this point I go inside to see the Bartender still making them. I said are they ready? We've been waiting... shortly after I went back to my table the server brought them out.
Drinks were good and expensive. The happy hour options have gone down hill here. Especially when you consider other happy hours nearby.
We ordered 2 happy hour plates, a taco, and a spin dip, after waiting 20+ mins for our food(restaurants usually have your food to you between 10-15 mins, ESPECIALLY when it isn't busy!!)
Missing 1 item, the taco. We requested it, as well as presets(napkins and plates) and the taco came out 15 minutes later. (Are you serious, shrimp takes 5-6 mins in a deep fryer max)
We ordered 1 drink when taco was delivered and after the server brought it, we never saw him again.
Went in to pay, I had to REQUEST the happy hour food pricing on the bill, and reorganize the menu items on the bills myself. Clearly not on the correct seat. (There was only 3 of us)
During our visit another table sat on the patio and was completely forgotten about by the serving staff that we heard them complaining the whole time about no service/acknowledgment at ALL and EVEN to the point where they had to go order INSIDE and get their OWN drinks from the bar! I would of been furious too! We definitely could relate to their frustration.
Tavern please do better. The business looked aged and needs a facelift. Our bill was $89
We ordered - 2 Caesars, 1 aperol spritz, 1 spin dip, 1 taco and 2 $8.99 appies.
Absolutely ridiculous, I could barely tip on the service nevermind the bill. I will tip on great service but when we have to go get our own drinks and request service come on.... I literally feel like I've been robbed
Save your $ and head to another business nearby where you won't be neglected and costs less! 🙃 (ps last time I reached out to a manager about a crap experience they ignored me, and I'm a pretty...
Read moreI’m conflicted on writing this review as someone who has worked in the industry. I came in with a very large group as a last minute get together with some friends that were about to leave town after the holidays, without a reservation so that ones on us.
It was virtually empty in there at 8:30-8:45PM and it took 15 minutes for us to get drinks let alone water, and by the time the food came out it was so sporadically times that the first few people finished their entire meal when the last just got their food.
Speaking of food, it was awful. I’ve worked in and around tavern uniteds before and the kitchen must’ve completely given up. Almost everyone’s meal was room temperature to cold, cheese left unmelted, portions drastically smaller than normal, food instructions missed, it was so confusing.
Then the explanation came, a staff member or maybe a manager came and informed us that they wanted to close early but we showed up and prevented them from doing so (we showed up at 8:45, they close at midnight, so not even like we came in right before close) and offered us last call.
Look i’ve been in the restaurant biz, I get having a table come in when you want to soft close, but they could’ve either: not taken us (which we would’ve happily went somewhere else and had a better experience) or at least NOT tell us that they wanted to close and we prevented them. That’s gotta be one of the biggest unwritten rules of service, even if you’re being interrupted or having your schedule messed up don’t tell the freaking customer.
Servers weren’t bad or anything, very polite just not very attentive, I get it you want to go home, but I reiterate, if you wanted to close why take us as a table?
Won’t be returning to this tavern, seems like they need a refresh...
Read moreworst experience ever. was looking forward to having an enjoyable and affordable wing night. server got our orders completely wrong not once or twice but multiple times. she initially had a bill of $900 for us, we were a group of 5. she clarified with us after getting her first calculation, and we explained to her our order again and thought that it was all resolved. when our food started getting served, it was an even bigger mess. we were served so many baskets of wings, none of which correlated to our order and what was written on her notepad. this bill for whatever was served was $200. we asked to speak to the manager because this was just unbelievable. he offered to take one basket off our bill ($10.99) which obviously was not helpful. he then offered to give us a 10% discount ($20) which again did not resolve the issue at all. he then told us to wait some more as he comes up with a solution and never came back. even after talking to the manager, more and more plates were being served to us. the server also told us that we couldn’t order half of one flavour and half of another, which you can! the manager even told us that its either we order a pound of half/half. lastly, we were never served our nachos either. what a wonderful place right. this is the first time we’ve experienced such terrible customer service. the issue was never resolved. we will not be going back to tavern by polo park. i would never recommend this place to anyone. (p.s. i was just told by other friends and families that they’ve also had horrible service from this place...
