The experience I had today in this restaurant is the worst experience since I came to Canada. I made an appointment at 7:45pm and when I came there at 7:42 I was asked to wait. I waited about 15 minutes and then I asked the receptionist why my appointment is at 7:45 pm but I’m still waiting then she said you can come in now. I don’t know how long I’ll wait if I didn’t ask her. Then I and my wife and 2 friends ordered some food. I ordered a lobster soup(not sure the exact name) and a steak, my wife also ordered some food as well as my friends. One of my friends ordered the same soup that I ordered. Then the servant gave all the food(except the steaks) my friends ordered. But none of the food me and my wife ordered was given. Then the servant came to our table said “ how about the food “and I said I’m still waiting and he said “I’m asking other people “. Then after a while he gave me the steak I ordered and asked me to remove the tablecloth and said “ this will be easier for him to give me the steak “. This servant is arrogant and not friendly at all through all this process. I asked “ where is my lobster soup “ because my friend ordered the same soup and her soup has been given about 20 minutes ago. What’s ridiculous is that he said “you didn’t order this soup” and then I said “I did order it” and we argued. I said “ what’s wrong with you “ because I was very angry and I said I wanna change the servant and he gave me the lobster soup very soon. But I still wanted to change the servant so I told the receptionist and they say sorry to me. Then I came back to my table and then the thing that pissed me off very much happened. A woman who said she is the manager came to my table and I can felt the unfriendliness from the very beginning. She said “ what’s the issue “ in impatient tone and I described the problem to her and I said I came to this restaurant more than 20 times this year and this is the first time I complaint a servant and I said the servant is unrespectful and she replied “ we’ve run this restaurant for over 10 years but no one ever complained and you should be polite “. I said I’m not impolite at all and she just interrupted me and said “ you are impolite because you raise your voice “ and before I replied she said you guys can just leave and don’t eat here anymore. Very rude and arrogant. This is the worst eating experience I’ve ever had since I came here. We were kicked out from the restaurant. I won’t just let it go until I get a fair...
Read moreOn 2018-04-20 my spouse and I planned a much needed night out which was going to include dinner at the Keg on McGillivray in Winnipeg followed by a movie. I made a reservation and were seated promptly at 5:45. At this time I noticed that the restaurant was not very busy. Our waitress took our drink orders and we ordered our meals. My order consisted of the a 7 oz Filet Mignon ($36) and King Crab legs ($22) with garlic mashed potatoes. My spouse ordered the same however with the 10 oz bacon wrapped filet ($41). We both ordered our steak medium rare. The plates arrived at our table and immediately upon cutting into the steaks we noticed they were much rarer than medium rare. The waitress who dropped off our meals (not our waitress) came back and looked at the steaks. She was in complete agreement and stated “those are not medium rare.” She went on to note that they had two “newbies” working in the kitchen. She took the plates back to the kitchen. A few minutes later the meals were returned to our table by the manager, Tim. When my spouse noted politely that having the same reheated Kin Crab legs was not acceptable. This keeping in mind we are paying top dollar for these meals at $58 and $63 per plate. Tim stated “I will take the crab then”, in an irritated tone. The manager reached across our table to grab an empty plate and then proceeded to grab the King Crab legs off of my spouses’ dinner plate with his bare hands and then reached over to my plate and pushed my steak out of the way with his hands and grabbed the King Crab off the plate in front of me again with his bare hands. He left and returned to the kitchen, leaving us with our plates missing the crab now. We were in absolute shock and stood up and asked the girl who dropped off our plates for the bill for our drinks and indicated that we were leaving. The manager then came over and asked what was wrong and asked if the “potatoes were cold”. This is when we informed him touching our food with his bare hands at our table was not acceptable. At no time did he offer to make things right and just re-plate new meals for us. If this is going on at my table, what happens in the kitchen behind closed doors? It looked like it would have been a good meal if it was cooked correctly. Made right every time?...
Read moreThis was a disappointing trip to the Keg. We had just had a perfect meal at the Keg a month ago (different location) so this time it was tough. Apps were fresh and hot. Loved the mushroom gruyere dip. Escargot was consistent. Ordered steak and lobster. My lobster was great. My steak was perfect until the last third. It had no seasoning all of a sudden. The other steak and lobster meal at our table had a clearly undercooked lobster tail. Initially we thought it was under seasoned but then the server told us they don’t actually season their lobsters It was almost translucent and looked completely different from all the other tails on the table (there were about 6 other lobster tails ordered in our party). Two people tasted it and could taste the difference. We had questioned it before tasting it on appearance alone, but our server said it was normal - this is when he mentioned they don’t season them. Then after trying it and tasting the difference, the server said he would bring another. This is when the manager came over and again just wanted to say that’s how it should be. We started to wonder if they would rather just debate it than make us happy? The manager was the one who brought out another one and rather than wait for us to clear some room he put the hot plate in front of a baby who quickly tried to grab it (as babies do). All his servers who brought our food earlier had more decorum than he did (the manager). They all politely waited while we cleared room and warned us of hot plates. This lobster tail also didn’t taste great but when the manager came back around to check again we told him it wasn’t great but just leave it because we don’t want to be told we’re wrong again. This same plate, the steak was also under seasoned and had so much fat we ended up not eating it. The plate ended up being comped but we would have rather had a good meal than free potatoes and veggies (which was all that was eaten). Other than these 2 meals the rest of the table had good dinners, apps, and deserts. The server did fine otherwise and was polite. Management was defensive for sure. We also had to call 3 different times just to get our reservation as we kept being told something different - but that’s a story for...
