Harvey's — Restaurant in Woodstock

I was at the restaurant yesterday evening around 6:30pm. We placed an order for 2 veggie burgers while waiting for my order for about 10 mins I saw the girls working in the kitchen chit chatting and only catering drive thru orders. I saw both of them touching food with their bare hands literally no gloves so I asked the guy behind the counter to cancel my order and refund my money as I don't feel comfortable. Well the pandemic is still on. He said in a very polite manner that they can't wear gloves around the grill and the fryer. I totally understand that they will melt however they can still use tongs or wear gloves while taking the patty or sausage out of the fridge which they did not. Cross contamination is a big problem in the food industry. I certified chef myself and I understand completely the whole food and sanitation process. One of the girl came in front in a very aggressive manner and started arguing. I politely asked her that there is no need to argue just understand that it is unsanitary. She was rude and as I was walking out of the store she started swearing at me in hindi and Punjabi. I understand both these languages being a South Asian. Since I was so upset with the behavior I asked my husband to manager's or owners contact but they refused. I am just putting this across to you guys so that some strict work rules should be put into place. I would recommend to visit the store and see how pathetic, slow and unwelcoming their service is. It just disgust me till now that how she just picked a burger patty and without washing her hands touched the sausages. Even at McDonald's when they take out fries from the fryer they wear gloves to serve the fries to their customers. This was totally unacceptable when there is so much awareness about cleaning and sanitation going on...

This Harvey's location is the best we have ever enjoyed a meal at! The employees are friendly, welcoming, polite, and prepare food accurately every time. I was driving eastbound on 401 and took the exit for Harvey's... a little far from the highway but the drive was definitely worth it! For the first time ever, the person that put my toppings on knew what "lots of hot peppers" meant. Food was nice and hot, freshly made of course, I had an Angus burger with cheese and my wife had a junior burger. Fries tasted very good as well, The only difference I noticed was the gravy was a little lighter in color than the local Harvey's, but it still tasted pretty good. This franchise looks fairly new, and has been well maintained and when we went at least it was very clean, even though it was just after the evening rush. Will definitely keep it in mind when I'm passing Woodstock...
