It is supposed to be a grill restaurant, right? For me as a humble person it means they know how to cut meat. The didn't have octopus so I ordered filet mignon with pepper souce. It was not a file mignon simply. The meat was "cut" like a dog chew it of the bone, lingaments and hard parts. The pepper souce had no pepper, no taste, it was an ugly brown something, probably a Maggi product. The side dish vegetables: cooked cabbage with carrots no taste. Not grilled vegatables in a grill restaurant. The food quality is like in an average Mindelo restaurant where you can eat for 350 Escudos but with some live music in a nice old building with nice view. Shameless, unrespectful people. The service is unfriendly, they didn't even ask how was the meal, they simpy don't care. My impression is that they focus on big French groups of tourists who eat there once so they can serve them whatever it doesn't really matter they will not return and the owner pockets a nice amount of money. Another pearl of gastronomical...
Read moreYou pay for the location, the beautiful interior, and the music I guess. All the food we had, we had better and cheaper in almost any small local restaurant. One bite of the shrimp salad tasted like it had mould.
The staff kept on speaking to fast in french, where in other places the staff at least care to speak slowly if there is a language barrier. We have always been able to communicate in our admittedly poor french, but here is the only place we had difficulty and the orders were not placed correctly (we got different side dishes than we ordered and they gave me a spoon for soup even though I didn't order soup.
To top off the experience they kept trying to take away our plates as fast as possible (there were only 4 tables with guests), even when I went to the bathroom and my plate was still half full they asked my girlfriend if they could take my plate. Plenty of good alternatives to this...
Read moreAs we already went to Casa da Morna in the same building, we decided to try this restaurant. Big mistake ! We should have gone back to Casa da Morna. Service has been super slow, personal not very friendly and unprofessional. Regarding the food : The octopus was good but not exceptional and with a lot of oil my wife ordered the tuna and asked very specifically to have it rare. It came more than well cooked. We had to ask twice for a new one and the waitress was clearly not cooperative and not happy with us. Very unprofessional from her even though the mistake was from their side we ordered a soup for our daughter and when they brought our dish, they told us that they forgot the soup ! So I ate my dish before it got cold, then my wife when they brought the new tuna dish and then our daughter. Such a disappointment and very unprofessional staff. Go to Casa da Morna on the...
