Horrible, such a pity! Bad food, bad taste, no quality at all. We ordered 3 different dishes and two of them were inedible. One of the dishes said on the menu "Natural whelks with olive oil, garlic and rosemary" and underneath was another plate of whelks with potatoes. We asked for the natural one and the whelks came BRAISED WITH POTATOES AND WITHOUT ROSEMARY with bad taste. We questioned the waiters (all unpleasant except Jacira) about the dish and everyone said yes, those were the natural whelks, and even took the dish to the kitchen to ask the cooks. They said that in the restaurante that was how they made that dish. So what was the difference with the potato-cooked shells? No one could answer. Indescribable. Jacira managed to "do the favor" of taking the plate off the bill that was the minimum. It seems that they enjoy to make fun of tourists and give them garbage to eat. But we are Portuguese and we know well what is good food, well cooked, with quality and we know what is SEAFOOD TO NATURAL. The atmosphere was nothing special, the table cloths were sticky and clearly not washed frequently. The only good thing was the musicians who unfortunately had a trashy sound system and it was better for the singer not to use a microphone because the sound was just awful.
Horrível, uma lástima! Comida mal confeccionada, sabor mau, sem qualidade nenhuma. Pedimos 3 pratos diferentes e dois deles estavam intragáveis. Um dos pratos dizia no menu "Búzios ao natural com azeite, alho e alecrim" e por baixo havia outro prato de búzios com batata. Pedimos ao natural e os búzios vinham REFOGADOS COM BATATAS E SEM ALECRIM com sabor mau. Questionamos os empregados de mesa (todos antipáticos excepto a Jacira) sobre o prato em questão e todos disseram que sim, que aqueles eram os búzios ao natural, inclusivamente levaram o prato à cozinha para perguntar aos cozinheiros. Disseram que ali na casa era assim que faziam aquele prato. Então que diferença havia dos búzios cozinhados com batatas? Ninguém soube responder. Indescritível. Jacira conseguiu fazer "o favor" de tirar da conta o prato da conta que era o mínimo. Parece que gozam com a cara dos turistas e dão lixo para comer. Mas nós somos portugueses e sabemos bem o que é boa comida, bem confeccionada, com qualidade e sabemos o que é MARISCO AO NATURAL. O ambiente não era nada de especial, os panos individuais da mesa estavam pegajosos e claramente não são lavados com frequência. But, a big but... during these high times of covid when most if the people passing it are Europeans and Americans, because this bar caters to them, I would have strict, very strict rules.1) A 30-1.5 hour time limit and 2) signage everywhere in the bathrooms NOT to flush toilet paper down the commode 3) temperature checks at the door. Why? When my husband and I stopped by there was a Portuguese woman sneezing and coughing like crazy. My husband and I were seated very close by and we let it go on for a bit but the key here is that her and her friend were done eating and drinking. The point of wearing a mask is you protect others from your microbes. This young woman was doing the opposite, sneezing and coughing and failing to really cover her mouth even despite numerous times of doing so. At one point I had to ask her, since she was clearly done eating and drinking, to cover her mouth with her mask. She was clearly upset but again why have a mask if you won't use it? And let's be honest if you got to a small Island African country with a small healthcare system, you should be more considerate about bringing Omicron and spreading it. So if you are business catering to European and American tourists that is fine, but help them these tourists to understand their responsibility in preventing the spreading of this disease and hopefully take increased mitigating measures to prevent it when there are surges in the countries where most of your clientele are from. Read moreSorry, i have to update my review. The last two and a half year I've been frequently this place and i was always happy. The last two months it has been a disaster. Bad food, just put salt on it and it will taste good? No! High prices for a dish of the day and it is nothing. Today it was fries with a bit of pig neck. No salad, nothing. Some salted cream and a fried egg with the pork.
I liked this place but today was the last time i went here. The prices gone mental and the quality is nothing. Half price, double the quality of food is everywhere in Mindelo. There is no reason to come back here. They changed it in to a tourist trap. Just look at this plate for 600 escudos. And then 400 for a beer. This has gone bananas.

I come here often for lunch. The food is good with high quality and the price for a lunch, dish of the day is like other restaurants in mindelo, around 500 escudos.
The drinks are a bit expensive and the portions are a bit small but for me its good. I prefer good food rather that a lot of food.
