Kyle's American Diner — Restaurant in Sal

It was a game of two halves... Service was sluggish, neither friendly or hostile, but seemingly bored. But my partner ordered food. He had the 3€ special hotdog and loaded fries. Both were totally acceptable. Pretty sure we got charged the normal price for the hotdog at 4.50 but the bill wasn't itemised but written on a notebook so, if that bothers you, keep your own tally. It was the night of the quiz. There were 3 local teams and two separate couples (we were one). Unfortunately, it was decided that the app used only allowed 4 teams so we were paired up with the other tourists. Not sure what'd happen if there was a rush of quizzers. Perhaps that never happens... The quiz format (app. Speed quizzing) was fine. The atmosphere was flat though. I know quizzers take their quizzing seriously but there was a lack of fun. Our WiFi slipped a couple of times which kind of messes up speed quizzing. But I suppose it was free and it passed an evening. Not sure what happened on one quiz team but it certainly upset the waiter who seemed to approach one guy who clicked for him (seriously?) quite upset. But the quiz moved on relentlessly. We came third out of four teams. The winning team must have electric fingers as their score was impressive (they came prepped with a tablet. We shared our new best friend's small screen phone on 5% charge. We'd hoped for an early exit but a kind, or cruel, soul offered a charger). Overall, we felt like we'd gatecrashed a private get together so...

I recently had a very disappointing takeout experience. The waitress was lovely, but there were significant issues with our order. Initially, we were incorrectly charged €1000 CVE extra. After checking the menu, the correct price was $3500, which we paid. However, the waitress returned, claiming we were undercharged by $1000, which was incorrect.

To make matters worse, the food quality was unacceptable. The burger, advertised as containing "chicken tenders," had thin, dry chicken instead. The lettuce was old and soft. The loaded fries were soggy and cold. Additionally, our cookies were missing from the order.

Overall, this was a very frustrating experience due to the incorrect billing and poor food quality. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues to improve...

I came to the island of Sal for a week of vacation and the first evening strolling around through the streets I came across this place. Went inside, asked „what’s the best dish on the menu“ and despite it being a Burger place the waiter (and co-owner) André told me, that his favorite dish was the chicken fried rice and that he could eat it every evening. Well… long story short. I went there every evening and 6 out of 7 nights I ate chicken fried rice. :-) only once did I order his second favorite dish the Bacon Burger. Food is delicious, and call me narrow minded I’d go there again 7 nights straight in a heart beat! Definitely not a tourist trap, seems to be more like a little haven for the native English speakers...
