Our go to restaurant in Santa Maria! (We ate here 4 times!!!) Don't be put off by the simple interiors, if you're looking for good value and delicious seafood, this is the place to be. You can easily get a main for under 10 euros and honestly, everything was delicious. We tried it out on our first night here and we just kept coming back as we fell in love with the seafood rice and also the garlicky marinade that they use with their wahoo/tuna steaks (much better than cafe criolo's). Oh, and their fries are surprisingly delicious. Other recommendations include the percebes (goose-neck barnacles) which are a delicacy of the Iberian peninsula, super weird looking but they taste like crunch little, phallic shaped clams. Oh and you can have some of the cheapest cocktails in Santa Maria here! Service was good for Cape Verdean standards, once our drinks didn't taste like they had alcohol in them, and they exchanged them for...

Hidden Gem with Delicious Food and Local Atmosphere

This hidden gem offers delicious local dishes made by local people. The atmosphere is relaxed and homey, with local music playing softly in the background. I tried the grilled shrimp on garlic and a local dish called "caldeirada de peixe" (fish stew), and both were absolutely delicious. The food was fresh and well-prepared, and the flavors were authentic.

While the service can be a bit slow, it's worth the wait for the delicious food. On my visit, it took 30 minutes for the server to bring me the menu, but I didn't mind because I was enjoying the atmosphere.

Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic local dining experience.

I came after reading the positive reviews on Google, and we were disappointed.

⚠️ We had a very bad experience at this restaurant! We had to wait over an hour before receiving our food, and the waiter served it to the wrong table. The other guests had already started eating before they realized the mistake. The waiter then took the plates back from them and gave them to us as if nothing had happened.

They insisted they had remade the dishes in two minutes, which is hard to believe (as they took one hour to made the dishes), and they didn’t understand why we were upset.

We ended up leaving the restaurant without eating, and I really hope they didn’t serve those already-cut dishes to...

The restaurant offered a mixed experience. The tuna tartar we ordered as an appetizer was absolutely excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. However, the main course, grilled chicken, was a disappointment. It lacked seasoning and was surprisingly bland compared to the high standard set by the appetizer. While the service was friendly and the ambiance pleasant, the inconsistency in the food left us wanting more. Hopefully, they can bring the same level of quality to their main dishes as they do to their starters.
