Cambalache — Restaurant in Puerto Varas

I was last night in this restaurant with my family. Nice location and pretty nice interior. We thought...nice....lets have a nice dinner.Right in the beginning the waiter was nice and talkative. We ordered 3 portions of lamb chops , some sea food entree. When the food arrived.....that’s when the disappointment started.....entree was really composed from a LOT of onion, some other stuff and almost no sea food....ok let’s wait for the main dish. In between, even if the restaurant was almost empty we had to go and look for the waiter to order more drinks. The other waiter who was bringing us the drinks was kinda....really do I have to work today? ...ok...everyone has a bad day. Than the main dish comes out....WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT...3 pieces of small lamb chops....almost no meat...just a big bone with some meat....not really fresh meat, full of fat and over salted. The side dish we ordered was supposed to be warm...it was directly from the fridge, totally cold, no seasoning...nothing just a couple of potatoes over cooked and not even properly peeled. After a couple of min the guy comes out and asked how we like it....we were very honest...not at all. He turned around and did not showed up for the rest of the time at all. When we asked to pay ...someone else was finally showing 20 min later. So.....I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. It’s expensive, VERY BAD SERVICE AND THE WORST FOOD WE HAD since we are here. To bad I couldn’t give them zero stars...but I’m ok with one star for...

Had dinner here and food was okay. Service was great, I liked that they served a delicious tapas toast thing at the beginning. We ordered the lomo vetado from the grill and I found it odd that they didn't ask how we well we wanted the meat done. When it came, it was between medium and well-done which I found to be a bit on the dry side. The meat was tasty though and the mash was really good.

We also ordered salmon papillote with ratatouille which is supposed to be a french dish. However, the dish was served in foil rather than the traditional "paper bag" that is used for papillote dishes so I don't think they got the papillote part right. It was probably more of a baked fish? The salmon, although pretty tasty, was a bit on the dry side again. Ratatouille was nice. The dish was also served with 3 prawns which was way way way overcooked and unpleasant to eat unfortunately.

In summary, good ambience, nice pisco sours, good staff,...

I ordered a pisco sour and a bottle of water and then Two dishes that were to come at the same time. I got the pisco sour and the first dish, and waited 30 minutes or so and had to ask for the water again and then the waiter saw I wasn’t eating any more of the first dish she asked if I was full and done. I said I never got my water and the second dish. So she finally brought my water and then about 15 minutes later brought my second dish, which was supposed to be a fillet cooked to medium. The fillet was well done, so I sent it back. The fillet they sent later was cooked properly but had no seasoning. I am not sure I...
