Samsara — Restaurant in Valparaíso

I very rarely give restaurants 5 stars but this one deserves it. First, the exterior and interior decor is modern and gorgeous; especially in contrast to the ancient neighborhood it is in. Second, their menu and food is thoughtfully prepared from scratch with high quality ingredients... and it is delicious. The staff are also courteous, professional, and friendly. The menu has popular standard items and interesting additional items. They also provide good wine and drink and dessert options. Yes it is a tiny bit pricier than usual but you are actually getting a good deal for the small amount extra. In my opinion, it was the highlight of our dining experience in Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar.

Note however that this is Chilean Thai food, so it tends to be sweeter than Thai food almost anywhere else in the world. You can ask them to tone down the sugar if needed. Also, bring your own spicy sauce, as it is not actually spicy at an...

This is our 4th time at Samsara and first time at their new location and I am convinced they only get better each time. The curry dishes are phenomenal. Full of nuanced flavors yet never overpowering. If you’re hungry get the full menu that includes a delicious salad, main dish and a choice of incredible desserts (get the rice ice cream, it like the best orchata you’ll ever have plus a mouth watering mango sauce and bits of caramel crisps). I got the Gaeng Massaman (lamb dish with Arab style curry, unbelievable). Others had the Gaeng kari kung (fish and shrimp in a light yellow curry) and the Kai phat met mamuang himmapaan (chicken and cashews with caramelized onions). All dishes were spectacular. Sadly an over rated restaurant for the food quality. The complimentary chips were soft and soggy and the mint or green chutney had no flavor.

Ordered the Beef Red Curry, medium spicy, not the best overall. The beef had no marination and no taste sadly. The curry itself with cashews and lemongrass flavor was good, a bit on the sweeter side but expected. The beef unfortunately spoiled the taste.
