If you are visiting Chile and are interested in the recent history it's a good place to come.
I've visited the place with a trips4tips tour with guide Camillo who has provided a lot of history of the place: how it was a political prison during the dictatorship, how it was give back to the artists and people of valapariso a few years ago and now is the "green" place of the city where people gather.

There are a lot of tourists here at times so it can actually be quite loud at times but you should be able to find a corner away from people if that's what you want.
The views are pretty good here (overlooking the sea, boats and town) and there is also a theatre here and sometimes exhibition.
Overall, there isn't too much to do here, but it's worth a visit if you'd like someone to come and not...
