I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mak's Noodle in The Peak, Hong Kong, and it certainly lived up to its reputation as a Michelin-starred restaurant. Known for their exceptional noodles, Mak's Noodle delivered an unforgettable culinary experience.

One of their signature dishes, Stirred Noodles with Wonton & Dumpling, was an absolute delight. The noodles were perfectly cooked, boasting a firm yet tender texture that melded seamlessly with the flavorful broth. The wontons and dumplings were expertly crafted, filled with succulent meat and bursting with delectable flavors. Every bite was a harmonious blend of savory goodness, leaving me craving for more.

While the food at Mak's Noodle was undeniably impressive, I must acknowledge that there were some areas that could be improved upon. One notable aspect was the age of the staff members. Many of them appeared to be older individuals, which may have affected the overall efficiency of the service. It's important to note that despite their age, the staff members were still attentive and accommodating, but the pace of service could have been faster.

Additionally, there seemed to be a slight language barrier, which occasionally made communication challenging. English proficiency among the staff members was limited, which could lead to some confusion or difficulty in understanding specific requests. However, their warmth and willingness to assist helped overcome this barrier, making the overall dining experience enjoyable.

Despite these minor setbacks, Mak's Noodle in The Peak is unquestionably a culinary gem. Their Michelin-star status is well-deserved, thanks to their incredible noodles and the exquisite flavors they deliver. If you find yourself in Hong Kong and craving a remarkable bowl of noodles, Mak's Noodle is a must-visit destination. Just be prepared for a slightly slower pace of service and occasional language...

Highly recommended. Located on 1st Floor. Very good al dente thin egg noodle. We tried the "signature wontons" and "shrimp&pork wontons". The wontons were delicious! Whole piece of shrimp was good to chew on. The signature wontons contain shrimp, pork, mushroom and bamboo shoot, which was a perfect combination. Even for someone who hates mushroom liked it.😂 The portion might be deemed as "small" for European or American standard, but the size is perfect in my opinion. The price is reasonable as well. The free refillable hot black tea was super soothing. The staffs were so nice and attentive. They charge 10% for service, which is okay. We left the place feeling comfortably full and our bill was $116. We went at 8PM so there was not so many customers, which made it even more...

Nothing special…

Location: inside a mall, very easy to find.

Food: we ordered pig feet noodle soup with wontons and a stirred noodle with wontons and dumpling adding beef. If you like al dente noodles, then this place is for you. Wontons are small with fresh shrimp, however, the broth is on the salty side. The pig feet and beef were very flavorful, but only served small amount of them.

Service: There’s a 10% service charge so I do expect more. But, it was just average. The servers do push (recommend ) set dinners as well.

Price: it’s pricy for such small portions and mediocre food. Paid $203 HKD for two and left still hungry.

Overall:...

Ok. It’s one random choice. Went into this Wanton Restaurant to get a quick dinner. Ordered a Wanton and Shrimp Dumpling Noodle (HKD80) and Beef Brisket Noodle (HKD79) with Additional Veggie in Oyster Sauce (HKD41). Overall it’s okay but compare to other wanton noodle place in HK, can get better and cheaper one. Thus, I’m giving a rate of 3 as I expect better quality food for the price I’m paying. One thing.. the noodle got too much of the alkaline water taste. Really do not like it. Will go try other stall though the stall is quite friendly.
