Amporn Thaifood — Restaurant in Hong Kong

The food was really and fresh. This was the first time we tried this place based on the reviews. However, our dinner ended with disappointment or misunderstanding. We ordered few dishes: sweet and sour squids salad, oysters omelets and curry soft shell crab. When we went to pay our bill which we thought would be under $400 as all dishes were below $100. We were told to pay over $600 and we asked why. They said the crab we ordered was $400! When we ordered rhe soft shell crab from the chef recommended page, it was $98 and we pointed to this item on the menu not just saying in Chinese. The lady said the waiter who took our order might have made a mistake to order a regular crab dish. We told her we never had soft shell crab before and we would not know what they supposed to look or taste like! Thus part of mistake or misunderstanding spoiled our dinner experiences. What if we did not have enough money to pay??? Anyway, we hope it was a genuine mistake not a rip off...

I am pescatarian so I made sure to ask very clearly if there was any pork, beef, chicken, etc. in the taro fried rice with seafood and the waitress stressed that there was /just/ seafood, so we ordered it. When it arrived, it came with a handful of pork! And not just a sprinkle, but really large chunks, too! I was furious!

Furthermore, the waitresses kept saying, "this will take a long time. Order something else." But then they wouldn't let us know what wouldn't take a long time (other than boiled vegetables).

My iced "jackfruit juice" was coconut milk with a few slivers of canned jackfruit.

The salted egg fried squid was not even salty. It was very oily and just tasted...

My favourite Thai restaurant in HK because it's not really a restaurant. You pay just for the good food, not the view, not the service, not the location. It's a food court with two vendors, one of them is Amporn Thaifood. So you sit with strangers like a food court and Chinese people are really loud. Now I don't recommend this if you're trying to impress your date. But if you love Thai food and you don't mind uncomfortable seating then, my friend, you can sit with me! woo!! I love the pork neck meat and spicy...
