I’ll start with the positives: good location, good atmosphere - the music is good and it’s pretty comfortable to sit inside or outside.
Unfortunately, that’s pretty much it in terms of positives though.
The food and drink here is pretty poor, even by DB standards. I’ve eaten here 3 times now and every time we’ve had food undercooked + cold - some of it is okay but at least 50-60% of it just not cooked properly or completely cold when it reaches our table. It’s not even been super busy any of the times we’ve been.
The flat white coffee they sent out was the worst that I’d ever tried - came out half split on the tray, hotter than the sun and once cooled down it both looked and tasted like a mess, milk completely ruined. Annoyingly, I saw a few lattes that went out that looked good after mine so not sure if I just got unlucky with someone else making mine or they’re not sure how to make a flat white - definitely avoid. Only positive is that it did burn my tongue + mouth so it was numb to the disappointment of what was to come later with the food.
Service is pretty much non-existent. Not sure why they have a welcome stand/maitre’d stand - you could wait there for 15+ minutes and no one would ever come to seat you (at least in my experience).
After you’ve seated yourself, don’t expect any staff to ever make eye contact with you or to willingly come over to your table to: take your order, offer you condiments, offer you more drinks, clear away your cups/plates, ask how are your drinks/food, offer you the bill. I had to walk up to the bar to initiate any of these interactions - amazingly they will add a service charge to your bill which at least did make me laugh a little bit.
Lastly, I mentioned above no one will ask how your food/drinks are so when we had issues we had to walk over to give feedback and the staff just couldn’t care less. Real shame as db needs a good restaurant with a breakfast/brunch menu like Ona but this place is...
Read moreMy family and I had dinner here for our Easter Sunday Celebration. As it wasn't a busy night, we were fortunate to have a lovely table and received a warm welcome from the staff. Although they offered us water, we opted for 2 bottles of San Pellegrino instead. The table setup, from the utensils to the plates, was delightful. I ordered a drink called Ona from the non-alcoholic beverages menu, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The Earl Gray Tea with lemongrass that my sister ordered also fell short. Both drinks lacked the wow factor in taste and presentation. On the other hand, my parents enjoyed their Prosecco. Our food arrived promptly as anticipated. I personally recommend the grilled octopus dish, which was incredibly delicious. Being based in California, I can confidently say it was the best octopus I've ever had, perfectly seasoned with garlic and cooked to perfection. My sister's beef stew was good but needed a touch more salt, the beef is tender with an appealing rice presentation. My mum opted for the blue mussels, which had an ideal amount of mussels with a flavorful mix of garlic and herbs, though it could use a slight improvement. The hummus lacked a bit of flavor, but the pita bread was satisfactory. My father had the Musaka, and although he didn't provide feedback, he finished the entire plate. Among the dessert options, we tried 2 out of the 3 available, both of which were delicious with a scoop of ice cream on top. The desserts were a hit with my family. The staff were exceptional! In conclusion, we had an enjoyable dining experience with fast service, good food, and a professional yet...
Read moreOK, I went on opening night. Yes Yes I know don't judge a place on the first night however I want this to be scene as feedback. Hopefully they can fix it as I want them to succeed. This would have been a rare one star review but I gave an extra star due to opening night. In summary
The service was ok, it was mix, opening night they had experience people but I think the issue was with the kitchen.
the positives, are lets see, nice new place, good music, and my wife like the wine.
I will avoid this place for at least a month and try again, but I'm very biased against the quality and recommend many other places. Perhaps if you come just come for drinks and nibbles...
