As a regular customer at DBrasserie in Discovery Bay, I decided to treat my wife to their steak night for a special occasion. We went in expecting a good meal and a nice evening. Instead, we walked out $800 later and completely let down. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, and Zack seated the three of us promptly. That’s about the only positive thing I can say. We ordered the Rib Eye, which was advertised as 300g. What I was served was shockingly poor – easily 50% fat, paper-thin in parts, and so rubbery I honestly questioned whether it was even beef. In my life, I’ve never been this disappointed with a steak. Someone actually looked at this sad piece of meat and thought it was acceptable to serve to a paying customer — I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. My wife’s steak had left her bitter too, as she couldn't get the piece of meat down. To make matters worse, my drinks were incorrectly charged, adding insult to injury. Between the terrible meat quality, the lack of care, and the overcharging, this experience left a very bitter taste — literally and figuratively. If management cares about their customers, they should urgently review their meat supplier and have someone who actually understands quality control in the kitchen. Until then, I won’t be...

I hadn’t visited in a while due to recent changes in the chef and staff, but my kids wanted to go, so I decided to give it another shot.
One of the waitresses, recommended the beef rendang as one of the best dishes. Unfortunately, the meat was very dry and tough—not what I’d expect from any rendang, especially one highlighted as a recommendation. The portion was also very small for the price (HK$200), which added to the disappointment.
I mentioned my concerns to the manager, James, and ordered a burger as well, fully intending to pay for both dishes. However, when the bill arrived, I was surprised to see that they had comped the rendang, burger, and even my fresh lime soda. 🤯 I offered to pay the difference as a tip, but since I didn’t have cash and their card system doesn’t support tipping, I couldn’t.
This gesture completely turned the experience around—from one where I likely wouldn’t have returned to one where I definitely will. Outstanding service like this makes all the difference....
Read moreThere is a big buzz about this place. For good reason, you can get your coffee & get some breakfast at 6:30 on the go. Go for a pint and meet people and go out. The partners who run this place are all DB residents and its clear that they have put a lot of love and attention, so it's a recommend visit here. We went for the food, The special which was sirloin which was a great portion with spicy chips with a peri peri sauce, their pulled pork was lovely in bbq sauce on a bed of rice and their salads are nice as well as the dragon balls. We tried the cheesecake which was excellent and the mango sorbet. This paired with a gin and drinks was very reasonably priced for DB, so really hard to fault! There was a live band after Saturday, that played great songs and people were having a great time. Only points I will call out is that we didn't get a steak knife & A tiny niggle for a new place - Looking forward to coming here...
