Confusing Discount Policy & Unexpected Charges - Good Food But Poor Experience
During an evening craving for burgers, I noticed this restaurant advertising an 20% discount for takeaway orders at the entrance. Upon inquiring, the staff told me the promotion was "exclusively for ice rink groups." When I questioned why? So no discount for DB residents (like me)? She vaguely explained that it might be because there are group lessons held there sometimes. Then, surprisingly, she added that I could still get the discount if I ordered through Foodpanda. I responded by pointing out that ordering through such platform would mean theyâd have to pay platform feesâso why not let me order directly in-store and enjoy the discount while they save the fees too? It seemed like a win-win situation. She became a bit flustered, and I left for a short walk to see if there were other burger options nearby.
Not even two minutes later, I decided to return and place the orderâonly to find that the 20% takeaway sign had mysteriously been removed. đ I asked again if the discount was still valid, and they said yes. That left me confusedâwhy remove the sign if the promotion still exists?
I went ahead and ordered two burgers. The food was pretty good, but hereâs the real issue: even though it was a takeaway order, they charged me a 10% service fee. I asked if takeaway should be subject to a service charge, and the staff told me it was mandatory. While waiting, I went and asked 4 other nearby restaurants (I Bel Paese, Peony, Chippyâs, and Pizza Express), and they all confirmed that they do not charge a service fee for takeaway order. I believe I Bel Paese is part of the same group as this restaurant right? ââso why the inconsistency?
The burgers themselves were tasty, but the overall experience left me feeling frustrated, confused, and honestly a bit disappointed. I hope the management can review their policies and communication to offer a more transparent and fair experience for customers...

The food was not just delicious; it was a true feast for the senses! Every bite was a flavor explosion that blew us away. The dishes were not only perfectly prepared but also beautifully presented with so much attention to detail. I especially want to highlight the homemade specialties, which tasted absolutely fantastic!
We enjoyed our lunch with a breathtaking view of the ferry and the South China Sea. The scenery made the experience even more specialâit was simply stunning!
A huge thank you goes out to the chef, who took incredible time to explain everything to us. He even served us a few complimentary samples that left us absolutely delighted! His passion for cooking shines through in every dish.
The atmosphere at the restaurant was welcoming and friendly, and the entire team was just outstanding. We felt completely at home and will definitely be back soon to enjoy more of this culinary delight.
Additionally, there were thoughtful little gestures that made our experience even more enjoyable, like covering our wine glasses to protect them from fruit flies. Itâs these small touches that really show how much they care about their guests.

Read moreQuite delicious, especially the Hummus offering, but the signature lamb shank and braised short ribs tasted too similar so order either one is fine, unless you like both beef and lamb dishes in one sitting. The restaurant has an excellent view of the Discovery Bay pier through the patio, which offers additional outdoor seating. Both the interior and exterior were clean and tidy and you could tell they put a lot of effort in setting up the place - even electrical cables were covered and hidden from view. Service staff was attentive and if you are new to the establishment, they would briefly explain how the dish is prepared. Too bad that for the rest of the time, some of the staff could be seen chatting away among themselves near...
