Food: 4/5 For the price, it can get quite expensive, but they do deliver on the quality. Apart from the images, I've also tried other sashimi and sushi, for instance, the sea urchin sushi was very fresh, and in my opinion, although the price point for it is quite high, you don't get this type of quality in other sushi chains for a lower price anyways.
I mainly want to focus the dishes I did remember to take a photo, "Prime Salmon Sashimi" for HKD34, "Seared White Shrimp with Cheese" for HKD14, "Seared Salmon with Barbecue Sauce and Butter" for HKD15, "Seared Prime Salmon in Soy Sauce" for HKD10, and "Udon with Beef" for HKD36. These are some of my favorite dishes. The first one can't be found in lunch or tea sets, but the fat on it gives it way more flavoring than the typical salmon sashimi. The second one is a limited dish that is perfect for any cheese enthusiast like me, it can certainly help you fill up your belly with the rice and shrimp is also has. The third dish is a mixture of the seared salmon with salty yet flavorful barbecue sauce, and added on butter to add a bit more creamy and sweet flavorful. The fourth choice can be a bit greasy, but it contains a flavor that's hard to describe, the texture of the salmon is also smooth, it's delicious in a way where I think you have to try it for yourself in order to understand its flavor. The fifth dish is the udon, this dish usually comes with some other sushi in their lunch sets and tea sets, I don't think it's worth the standalone price, but if you are buying it along with the other sets, then I think the overall chewy yet soft texture of the udon, and the beef taste was delicious.
The only dishes I wouldn't really recommend is the tuna sashimi, compared to salmon, it's usually less popular, hence most of the time it's not defrosted enough, and it lacks the freshness you can get in other sushi chains.
Overall, I think the quality of the sashimi and sushi justifies its price. For the tea sets and lunch sets at certain time of a day, they offer a bunch of different sushi you can choose, along with some side dishes and even a bowl of udon for a way lower price. If you're looking to save up some money despite wanting a sushi meal, then I suggest checking those sets out.
Service: 4/5 Genki Sushi is always a chain that lacks efficient service despite charging the usual "Service Charge" of 10% in Hong Kong. Unless you click on the bell, you rarely ever have a chance the employees themselves will pick the dishes up for you, nor will they help you refill the soy sauce, wasabi, etc. Even the usual tea is made by yourself, you pour in your desired amount of green tea powder yourself, then you use the tap to get hot water yourself. Not to mention at rush hour, even after you clicked on the bell, it can take up to a whole minute for an employee to respond. It's certainly na absurd price when you think about the pay the employees actually get. (That 10% is definitely not all going into the services)
Atmosphere: 4/5 It's a pretty quiet sushi chain where it can get rowdy at rush hours. It's a place for friends and family gatherings, this was definitely not my first time in a Genki Sushi, and compared to the other stores, the one in Telford Plaza is relatively nice to be in, it has good air conditioning, the sofa and chairs are comfortable and most of the time clean, the taps are rarely...
Read moreThe Japanese cuisine at this restaurant is quite ordinary, with sushi that is acceptable given the price point. I visited around 6 pm and noticed they were slightly short-staffed, so I decided to leave initially. However, I returned later because I couldn't find a more suitable spot for an early dinner.
The service was excellent—everything was served quickly and efficiently. After placing my order, the food arrived within five minutes.
Overall, I would recommend this place if you're looking for a decent quality, fast, and affordable Japanese dinner as a comparison option...
Read moreQuality is always good with fast service. Although the variety of food is not a lot, it is easy to find something I like. Recommend their steam egg, soft shell crab roll, scallop, Japanese cheese cake and deep fried shrimp roll. Price is reasonable and they serve lunch set and afternoon tea set during...
