Apart from Wai Kee’s this is another famous place for noodles in Sham Shui Po, they are famous for noodles with dried shrimp roe sprinkled on top served with black ox tripe.
As well as the noodles they are famous for the pickled white radish too.
I am not fond of ox tripes so I ordered the noodles with beef tendons.

Noodles with beef tendons sprinkled with prawn roe:
The noodles were lovely and soft and adhered lots of sauce and dried shrimp roes so it was delicious.
However there was lard in the mixture so I had to eat them fast because when they cooled down, you can smell the lard.
The soup that was included was useful for rinsing off the lard if you did not like it.
The beef tendons were soft and gelatinous and full of flavour.

Pickles: I really loved chomping these chunky Chinese white radishes because they were lightly pickled and there was still some raw radish taste in it.
They were really refreshing and balanced out the lard from the noodles.
Although they were pickled with chili’s the radish was not spicy.
The jars of pickled Chinese white radishes were passed round the tables because they did not seem to have enough jars for every table.

In my opinion not many places in Hong Kong serves noodles with shrimp roe for this price hence this place stands out because it offers it and does not taste too bad.
The last decent noodle shop I tried with dried shrimp roe was 楊記麵家 Yeung's Noodle in Wan Chai, which...
Read moreI made a special trip to try their Shrimp Roes Scooped Noodle 虾仔捞面 and Wontan Noodle Soup after reading many must-try recommendations online. LSK was also recommended by OpenRice as the best noodle restaurant 2 years in a row.
On the first try I am not sure I like the Shrimp Roes noodle on its own, the noodle was quite dry, it tasted bland with slightly odd flavours from the shrimp roes. However it tasted excellent with their homemade pickled turnip, green and red chillies. I think it will grow on me after a few tries. Some food just need time to grow and does not grab you first time you try.
The Wontan Noodle though was quite disappointing. The flavours of both the Wontan and noodle were really bland. Flavours and texture were not a patch in comparison with Lung Kee’s and Mak’s although the soup was very nice. I also enjoyed their dumplings 水饺.

Read moreI wanted to share the kindness we've experienced today - we only had $60 cash left, had forgotten our Octopus card at home too and they didn't accept Visa cards, so we could only order the two cheapest dishes. Unfortunately we don't speak Cantonese, so we struggled to explain this to the server when a gentleman who luckily spoke English stepped in and helped - and next thing we knew, there was some dumplings on the table that we didn't order, then arrived some more and in the end, a very kind lady ended up paying for our whole order. We offered to pay her back multiple times, but she refused. These people could have judged us, but they showed us kindness instead, which we were very grateful for. We ended up with more food than we could eat and we couldn't take it all with us unfortunately, so we shared some with a homeless man as a way to pay it forward. I want to say thank you to...
