Came across this restaurant in APM Mall Kwun Tong. It is one of the Lei Garden chain restaurants awarded one Michelin star. We decided to do a dinner taste test.
The place was relatively busy with large family groups. We were served by Leo. He recommended signature and seasonal dishes, some of which were off menu. He also singlehandedly managed our dining needs for that evening.
The century eggs had a runny middle. The fish parts braised in a sticky brown sauce were lightly fried but soft white flesh. The tender shark's fins were swimming in a rich yellow chicken broth. The roasted pigeon had crispy and fragrant skin over succulent meat. Crispy Roman lettuce were covered in a light salty fermented bean curd sauce.
Dessert was a variety of cold milk jelly, black glutinous rice with coconut cream, white fungus slow cooked with rock sugar, and a light almond milk with egg white. The dishes were tasty and showcased a range of Cantonese cooking techniques and styles.
We would like to acknowledge Leo for his personable service and entertaining conversations that made our dinner most enjoyable. We've add this restaurant to our Hong Kong list...
Read more4 star food but the service is 0-star level awful. Staff running around rushing to take whatever dishes than can from your table regardless if they bump you or you still have food left on the plates! The worse thing is, they lie about the fact that they supposedly warn you at the door to return the table after just 1 hour, and then when it comes to 1 hour, they come over, clear everything off the table, and rudely force you to leave! Even less time on the table than buffet restaurants!? They also have a very haphazard attitude to allergens so be warned. More of a “whatever” mindset than actual care.

Read moreProbably the worst ever customer service! Visited twice recently. When asking for the bills, the waiter for the first time and waitress for the second time both said not a single word. When they came with the bills, they just collected your credit card again without a single word. Finally when they returned the receipt and my card, once again they said nothing. During the entire process, they are speechless and sullen. I am curious if they were discontent with the 10% service charge included in the bills and wanted some more.
