Deep within local Kowloon, Hong Kong is an infamous local cuisine, Cart Noodles, 車仔麵. Also, one of my favourite places to visit in Hong Kong, which I would bring my friends who’s visiting Hong Kong to visit too.

There is absolutely no service, I wouldn’t even use ‘clean’ to describe its atmosphere. However, nothing beats its deliciousness.

Never have a visited within a line, so expect to need to line up but it’s worth it. Never has it ever disappointed.

You’ll line up, they’ll shout, you’ll pick a type of noodles and vegetables. Then once it’s your turn in the line there’ll be a bunch of different food for you to choose from. A quick order, you won’t be able to stand and think for too long. It’s good training to be decisive.

My go-to are mini mushrooms, spicy squid, kidney and fish with yellow noodles topped with extra shallots.

Once you’ve picked out what you want for your noodles, you pay directly by telling the lady at the cashier if you want spicy or shallots and also what you’d like to drink. Then you pay cash, and cash only.

They’ll then shuffle you to seats and then bring you, your food!

Bring your own tissue as they don’t provide. They also don’t have an English Menu, so have your translator ready in hand while you line up!

They have a total of 4 shop fronts on the same street at Sham Shui Po and Sham Shui Po only! Two of which you line and order, two of which you sit and order in the app. I’ve tried both, the only which you order in the app doesn’t taste as good, so every time I ended up going back to the lineup and order in-person.

Happy...

The Real Deal: This ain't your fancy ramen joint, but Man Kee's got that authentic Hong Kong street food vibe that hits different. Located on Fuk Wing Street in Sham Shui Po, this spot's been serving up legit cart noodles that even caught Michelin's attention (The Plate recognition 2018-2020). What's Fire 🔥

62 toppings to choose from - literally overwhelming but in the best way Chinese chive dumplings and Swiss chicken wings are the MVPs according to Michelin Handmade noodles with that perfect chew from duck eggs Prices that won't break the bank - around HK$44 for loaded bowls

The Vibe Check ✨ Don't expect white tablecloths or Instagram-worthy interiors. This is pure no-frills street food energy - think slippery floors, zero service with a smile, but food that absolutely slaps. It's the kind of place locals queue up for, not tourists looking for ambiance. Data Says 📊

4.3/5 rating across platforms 4 locations all on Fuk Wing Street (they know their turf) Generous portions that actually fill you up Customizable everything - build your bowl your way

Bottom Line 💯 Man Kee delivers that authentic HK cart noodle experience without the tourist markup. Sure, the service is meh and the atmosphere's basic, but when you're slurping those chewy noodles with perfectly braised toppings, none of that matters. It's comfort food that creates memories, not just meals. Worth the hype? Absolutely. Just don't go expecting fine dining - go expecting real Hong...

This place is very fun and an endless combination of dinners can be created!

There are three shops in a row for this place, the first only takes cash. You can queue at any door. We chose to scan the QR code at the door as it was easy to read the menu in English that way! We actually pre-selected what we wanted at home and then when we got a seat we scanned the seat code to order and pay via the app (card, Alipay etc).

You have to select: Type of noodle Toppings (up to 10, at least 2) Sauce Soup base Drinks

We didn’t have to wait that long for it to arrive! Both our dishes were delicious. I had picked: thick noodles, tofu puffs, spicy bamboo, watercress, crab balls and enoki mushrooms in clear broth. I had also added some other toppings but I realised they had forgotten to add them and didn’t tell me, did they run out?

My companion picked: thin noodles, beef brisket, chive dumplings, shiitake mushrooms, spicy bamboo, fish balls and an egg, with beef broth.

There are lots of condiments available on the tables so if you haven’t added enough flavour to your broth you can add as much chilli, vinegar etc as you like.

Lots of interesting drinks available too. Atmosphere was quiet/peaceful, and the service was quick.

I realised it should have selected a half portion of noodles as I think it was maybe a little too big in...
