After several trips here over the years, I now prioritize the great space of the cafe more than the menu or service. It’s often busy and families really value the fun and open nature of the site. The amount of children as well as the clunky metal furniture can make it a noisy spot to hang out. Sometimes, seating is tough to get but if you can get a seat, you will find some great wifi and no pressure to leave as some other cafes do. There is also some great outdoor seating. Really nice in the morning and evening. The potential here is quite high and even though what it has to offer is quite basic, it’s still much much better than other similar cafes in the neighbourhood. Used to be a favourite years ago. Food quality and service now disappointing: today, a disgusting lukewarm (with cold patches) eggs benedict, a cloying sauce and cold undercooked egg… $12 for a mangy hash brown swimming in oil. Service staff shrugged at the complaint, offered to make “half a dish” as I’d eaten some already. No refunds. Add the unpleasant scrutiny of a security guard watching the kids closely and complaining about the 2 year old wheeling in on his balance bike, I wonder, with sadness, what happened...
