We stayed at a hotel nearby during our annual Christmas Hong Kong visit and someone recommended this HK style dai pai dong. I had fond memories of dai pai dong growing up, so I had to try.
We ordered:
Fried Sticky Rice I had never had fried sticky rice before. It was surprisingly good, not oily and yummy. The sticky rice gave another layer of flavor to it.
Hand Shredded Chicken with Jellyfish Chicken and jellyfish were both flavourful.
Oyster Pancake It was really tasty!
Lamb Belly Pot This is my dad and my indulgence growing up. Price was quite high relative to the size of the pot, but it was quite delicious. I would prefer cooking the meat more so that it would become really soft.
Wusu Beer We had never heard of this beer before. Its flavour was relatively light and very refreshing like honey.
Services was really good! You have the dai pai dong atmosphere but not the heat in a comfortable indoors environment.
A bonus is there is a dessert place next door.

Read moreA bit pricey but the food was so delicious! As a tourist, I don’t mind spending the money for all the local vibes. The swearing, the not-so-good service, and not sitting the most comfy. That’s what Hong Kong is all about!
The best thing about this “dai pai dong” is that it’s actually quite clean. As compared to the traditional “dai pai dong” that’s in the back alley.
We had the: Oyster pancake - 5/5 - crispy on the outside, just the right thickness, and despite being an oily dish (since it’s fried), we didn’t find this to be overly oily. Minced pork with eggplant - 5/5 - the perfect amount of spicy with plenty of minced pork and juicy pieces of eggplant. This is one of my favourite Cantonese dishes and I’m glad they didn’t disappoint. Chicken wings - 5/5 - good sized chicken wings and seasoned well.
Not sure why there was a service charge, but it’s alright!

That was the worst so I remember it most vividly. Other dishes were not as bad but nowhere close to tasty food that you may expect from a renowned restaurant. Anyway I gave it a second shot couple days ago. This time I had to share table with a small family of three and a group of five. We ordered at about the sametime yet I had nothing served to me while the other two parties had a couple. The staff gave rude response when we reported this issue. The quality of the food were still much below expectation. I would even say it was below average since all the dishes...
