I’m a 20 year Bonvoy member: 14 year as Gold, 10 year as Platinum and I stayed in Shatin Courtyard for 92 consecutive days in 2024 so I think I’m highly qualified to say something. ||What I like about this hotel: |1. 30-day package is a great value for money ONLY if you are Platinum, i.e. you get access to Executive Lounge and free breakfast. If not, there are better 5-star hotels out there with better location and amenities in proximity, such as Nina Tsuen Wan West, 20% cheaper than Courtyard with better location and surrounding restaurants. ||2. Location is okay if you are local, Shek Mun subway is 8 min walk away and has a wide variety of local cuisines. Hard to find authentic western food though, you would have to go to Shatin or TST for it. Thus, location wise, I prefer somewhere else, but this is still okay.||3. If you get room upgrade great river (which I did after painful fight) and racecourse view, then it’s nice. And it’s pleasant to walk or jog by the river during sunset. ||4. The outside swimming pool and sauna are pheromonal – not many 4-star hotels offer such facilities, and I visit them almost daily||5. The breakfast is comprehensive, it comes with western, Chinese and Indian food. Gained 5 pounds in 90 days. ||6. The executive lounge offers a great race-course view and printer and happy hour, which is perfect for me as I need to get on the work and for print out as well. ||7. Some staffs really go extra mile to help. My housekeeping lady (曾彩花) is always of greatest standards and shows understanding of a long stay need (more in room food and trash, etc). Connie at the Momo Café greets me in my surname at reception every morning and says goodbye (with my surname) when I leave (none others do so). Shan at Momo Café always ask me what special drink I want that morning. Charles from concierge was so helpful that when I checked out he helped me carry all the luggages to my limo while it’s rain. It was These are some of the very good staffs that Courtyard Shatin is remembered for. ||8. Summertime is interesting. Hotel is close to sport college so get to see a lot of families bringing their kids to competition over summer. Even the Manchester United Junior stayed in this hotel. Sports is a great theme. ||What I don’t like about this hotel |1. Food and wine at executive lounge are suboptimal so I think I only check in

I’ve had the privilege to stay at Marriott Courtyard Hong Kong, Sha Tin, in January, February, March and April of 2024. And there’s a reason I keep returning to the same hotel in Hong Kong.
This 4 star hotel is a very nice hotel in many ways.
But the most important reason I keep returning to this particular hotel is because of the staff.
Because I’ve been there so many times, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of the hotel’s staff.
The following individuals deserve an honorable mention because they make this Marriott Courtyard property equal to a 5 star hotel.
Ms. Shan Mars - MoMo Cafe restaurant employee Ms. Chun - MoMo Cafe restaurant employee Ms. Bee - MoMo Cafe restaurant Assistant Manager Mr. Billy Lokn - Executive Lounge employee Ms. Nora - Executive Lounge employee Mr. Steven - Concierge employee Ms. Samantha - MoMo Cafe restaurant employee Ms. Connie - MoMo Cafe restaurant employee Ms. Sunisa - Executive Lounge employee Ms. Anna - Executive Lounge employee Mr. Leo - Executive Lounge employee Mr. Michelle - MoMo Cafe restaurant employee Mr. Ma - Executive Lounge employee
This hotel staff is always friendly, professional, and very good at their job.
The rooms are very comfortable, nice size and clean. The maids are very good at what they do and go out of their way to provide you with items they stock.
I had the breakfast buffet most mornings in the hotel restaurant MoMo Cafe. The restaurant has both Asian and Western cuisines that’s very delicious.
As a Platinum Elite member, I frequent the Executive Lounge on the 30th floor. The Executive Lounge is very comfortable, relaxing, controlled area with great views of the northern areas in Hong Kong.
The Courtyard has a very good gym that’s available 24/7 with a very nice swimming pool.
The hotel is 2 blocks from a small shopping area with many restaurants, convenient stores, pharmacy, medical needs, fruit / vegetable and meat market . And in this same area is their MTR (Mass Transit Railway). An efficient, public, affordable train system that runs through Hong Kong and China.
There are many local very delicious Hong Kong and Chinese dishes in the area, or if you want to be the normal foreigner that traveled to Asia to have western dishes, there are plenty of those as well and a McDonald's attached to the hotel like there seems be everywhere on earth. I think there’s a McDonald's on the moon.
But one thing you can be assured of is that McDonald's tastes the same no matter where you go on the planet, if that’s your thing. But I truly recommend the local Hong Kong / Chinese dishes and cuisines.
From the Hong Kong International Airport a bus will drop you off right in front of the hotel, fare is 29 Hong Kong dollars which is about $3.80 USD, for about a 45-50 minute bus ride. Of course taxi, Uber, Limo or train is available from the airport.
I was surprised there’s only 2 bus stops between the hotel and the airport. The bus runs about every 20 minutes during peak hours.
The Courtyard hotel is not in the CBD (Central Business District) nor is it close to the tourist areas. But the Chinese public transportation system is very good, efficient, clean and safe. This makes it very convenient to be anywhere in Hong Kong from the Courtyard in minutes. And, if you want to get adventurous, you’re less than an hour train ride to Shenzhen in mainland China.
There are 2 shopping areas near the hotel. There's a normal shopping mall about 10 minutes bus ride, or better yet, the hotel has a free shuttle service to the mall and the hotel provides a free shuttle service to the CBD.
There’s a hospital about 5 minutes bus ride from the hotel.
From the Courtyard hotel, you are about 15 minutes MTR train ride from the infamous outdoor night shopping market (Mong Kok) in Hong Kong. You definitely need more than one day to shop in this area.
Being a 4 star hotel, the value for the money at this Marriott Courtyard hotel...

Room itself: We picked this room largely because we can have a river view to look at for 7 days. The large glass window is definitely a big plus, giving us lots of sunlight in the day, while still something calming to look at night. The ceiling is high, and the room is in a nice square structure, overall feeling spacious and comfortable. There is sufficient room at the side of the bed and between the bed and the TV, so that we can use our yoga mats to do stretches and some light exercises. We also really appreciate the long L shape desk, so that we can set up 1 person for seating + dual monitors, while the other with a standing desk.
Hygiene: Overall clean. Towels are clean but we used our own for hygienic reasons.
Delivery service: Acceptable, received my food delivery within 15-20 minutes. Having said that, for our care packages/luggages from friends, it took about 2 hours… I had to call the front desk to chase them down.
Wi-Fi connection: No issues. Not related to the hotel but there are a few times where other neighbors were trying to connect to my HomePod, maybe accidentally?
Amenities: 12 bottles of 1.5L water (which I see is a lot compared to other hotels!). There are also additional coffee powder and teabags provided. You need to boil water after finishing those bottles. 4 boxes of tissues and 4 rolls of toilet paper are provided. You can call the Service Desk up if you need additional amenities.
Customer Service: The few times when I called for assistance, they were helpful and understanding. Once I asked for a more stiff pillow and once I asked for some extra straw. Both times they delivered some to me within 30 mins.
Food: I think like most of the QH currently, don't expect magic from the food since it's outsourced to catering vendors. It's really a hit or miss. For All City View Rooms and River View Rooms, the daily “Balanced Menu” is included in your room rate. You can also top-up HK$120 net per person daily to choose meals from the “Chef Recommendation Menu”.
Before you arrive at the hotel, you SHOULD receive an email for choosing the menus for all 21 meals. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen for me, and not until we called on the 2nd day to check before they tell us this is the case. So be sure to check with them ahead of time!
Recommendations: Bring your own pillow if you can! Especially if you need extra support on your neck. We loved having the option of a standing desk. If you have something like that, bring one so you can have an extra option of working while standing, or working in your bed! Bring an HDMI cord with you so you can use the TV screen as your 2nd monitor, sound bar, Netflix / movie screen etc. Bring good headphones if you’re going to have to work remotely - savior to our multiple conference calls at the same time Bring your own tissue paper, cleaning supplies if possible!
Happy...
