If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience that captures the essence of authentic Shanghai cuisine, look no further than Lao Zheng Xing. This Michelin-recommended restaurant is a true testament to the rich culinary heritage of the city, and every aspect of my visit was nothing short of exceptional.

The Food: 5/5 From the first bite to the last, every dish was a masterpiece. The flavors were deeply rooted in tradition, yet executed with a finesse that only a Michelin-recognized kitchen can deliver. Highlights included their signature Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), which were delicate, flavourful, and bursting with rich broth, and the Braised Pork Belly, a melt-in-your-mouth delight that perfectly balanced sweetness and savoriness. Each dish was a celebration of Shanghai's culinary history, and I couldn't get enough.

Price: 5/5 For a Michelin-recommended restaurant, the prices at Lao Zheng Xing are surprisingly reasonable. The value for money is outstanding, especially considering the quality of ingredients and the skill behind each dish. This is fine dining without the pretentious price tag, making it accessible for both locals and travelers alike.

Service: 5/5 The service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. They took the time to explain each dish and even offered recommendations based on my preferences. It's rare to find such a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth, but Lao Zheng Xing nailed it. Overall Experience: 5/5 Lao Zheng Xing is more than just a restaurant —it's an experience. From the moment you walk in, you're transported into a world where tradition meets excellence. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or a curious traveler, this is a must-visit destination in Shanghai.

Final Verdict: Highly Recommended! If you're in Shanghai, do yourself a favour and book a table at Lao Zheng Xing. It's not just a meal; it's a journey through the heart of Shanghai's culinary soul. Trust me, you'll leave with a full stomach and an even...

It's an authentic Michelin 1 Star restaurant but do not live up to its reputation. This is an grandio establishment with lots of history behind it. However, it's current location is almost 30 years old and the decor is very much dated. Service is attentive but not on the spot. If you are looking for a cocktail, it's not available. Price on food is much lower than what you would expect from a Michelin restaurants. Now food. We ordered 6 dishes just to try out a wide spectrum of food. They are very traditional Shanghai cuisine and I would say it would not appeal to western palate. I enjoyed only 3 of the 6. Portions are quite large so order accordingly. I do not think I will be back to this old establishment since there are so many choices...

Food is awesome. Price is surprisingly modest. One of very a few authentic Shanghai cuisine restaurants now can be found in Shanghai. I just do not think people under 50 are old enough to tell the real Shanghai cuisine from the post Cultural Revolution retroaction to restore many of elite restaurants that were destroyed under the anti-capitalism upheaval. Thanks to Prime Minister Chou for preserving this precious gem from complete annihilation. Will return for...

The food is above average, but you may be disappointed if you are looking for traditional ShangHai taste. The smoked fish we are served are hot and not sweet (it is a sweet cold starter) The tofu with crab roe is over seasoned with pepper The stewed meat sauce tastes different from traditional taste But the eating environment and the service is great, you can enjoy your meal here The food is above average still if you are not picky!
