Cantina Agave — Restaurant in Shanghai

Contrary to Google Maps, this restaurant is not closed. I was just there on October 9, 2017 and it was doing a fine business. They have a nice menu with a wide variety of Tex-Mex, and potent margaritas. My favorite is the ceviche, a meal in itself. This is one of my two favorite Mexican restaurants in Shanghai, the other being Pistolera on Hengshan Lu. Sitting outside on the patio by the sidewalk is a great way to watch the beautiful people of Shanghai walk by. I want to start off by saying energy and ambiance here on weekend is amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The brunch specials are great. But for me personally the food wasnt all that. Aesthetically is looks great but it was kind of bland too me. Maybe it was because I had a plant based burrito. But my friend also said it about the food. So I’ve heard that the food was really good in past. I loved everything about the restaurant and area, so I would definitely go again to try...

Ate here three times. Yes the margaritas are good. The food is tex-mex tasty too. The corn chips are ok, but somewhat lacking in quantity. There is a small hot sauce bar inside where you can try different types of sauce and get extra jalapeños if you like. The owner is a U of Michigan grad. Overall a very happy experience for China.
