Malaflor — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

I should have known this place was going to be bad, if not terrible, by the name.

We walked in, there was no host but a manager was standing around doing absolutely nothing and refused to help. The host finally came, and he gave us the QR code to look at the menu. I asked for Wi-Fi since I am from out of country and do not have service, and he said we don’t have Wi-Fi here, because we’re at the beach. This should have been the first red flag, as almost every establishment in Bogota that we encountered had Wi-Fi. After waiting 15-20 minutes and being seated, we were ignored for close to 30 minutes. No water, no server, no anything. They saw our table, walked by a couple times with no recognition. The table was also unstable / needed something underneath to stabilize it. Many other customers were just sitting around waiting, and they seemed understaffed or just poor service as I also saw servers standing around (not rushed or busy or anything).

We looked through the menu and had trouble choosing what to order, because nothing looked too appetizing. After waiting and waiting for a server, we decided to leave. The waiter saw us and said nothing as we walked out, as well as the manager. After looking through these reviews, it looks like a lot of these are paid or fake, which makes so much more sense now.

Management needs to do a complete re-training on staff - this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. We ended up going to a restaurant a few blocks down and it was a complete 180 on service, hospitality, and food. Unfortunately, this is not a good representation of Bogota restaurants or service. I don’t typically write reviews but this restaurant was sub-par.

It was a waste of time, but thankfully not a waste of stomach space. I would stay away and try to ignore the aesthetics and looks this...

This place is a combination of a hippie retreat and a night club all in one. Really, it wants to be a night club, the problem is that they have a restaurant.

It's a three story building with an open airy feel, warm colors, and a relaxed atmosphere. Most people here are in their 20s.

The food was good. It's mainly a healthy option place with some Asian mixed in and some steaks so people who want something more elegant can eat something. The menu is limited.

I've included photos of all the did we is ordered.

We had the chicken appetizer. Three small balls of soft, pureed chicken covered in sesame seeds. It was just ok.

The next were our main dishes. The rib eye and the mala flor bowl. Both were good. The rib eye came with mashed potatoes and baked kale with some sort of oil and seasoning. They had it all as one kale leaf, which made it difficult to cut. The mala flor bowl was good, very healthy with lots of veggies. I was still hungry so I had the pad thai which was good too. For dessert, we had the salted caramel Catalan cream (it's very small! And it's really Creme Brulee, I don't know why they changed the name). We also had 2 bottles of water. The total including the tip was 215k pesos.

The service was excellent.

The unnecessary fireworks/sparklers show with the fake plastic ivy plants on top of the ceiling made me very nervous about a fire. Also, while the music was good, it was waaaay too loud for a restaurant. Like I said, they're trying to be a night club that serves food in a...

Nunca fui tão mal atendida na minha vida! Chegamos no "restaurante" às 21:20 hs de um domingo. Aparentemente o local é uma balada nos andares superiores e no térreo é um restorbar.. Fomos direcionados para uma mesa minúscula. Eu e meu marido, não somos do álcool e estamos realmente com fome. Fomos la por conta das avaliações do Google. O local não estava cheio mas ainda assim o atendimento foi extremamente lento! O primeiro garçom que nos atendeu, informou que a cozinha fecharia em pouco tempo e solicitou que pedíssemos tudo de vez, e assim fizemos. Pedimos 2 entradas, 1 prato principal para repartir e uma sobremesa. Alem disso meu marido pediu um drink não alcoólico e eu uma coca zero. A partir dai iniciamos a pior experiência das nossas vidas. Uma garçonete assumiu nosso "atendimento".. serviu minha coca e conseguiu tirar todo o gás da mesma (colocou com tanta falta de delicadeza no copo cheio de gelo). E dai ficamos aguardando a comida.. e aguardando.. e aguardando.. Observamos que mesas que chegaram após a nossa já estavam jantando e nada das nossas entradas. Chamamos a garçonete e informamos que estavámos aguardando fazia quase uma hora, a mesma nao deu um pedido de desculpas... informou que iria verificar na cozinha..ao sair da nossa mesa ao inves de ir imediatamente ate a cozinha ficou circulando ainda pelo salao.. Passou pouco tempo e la vem ela com uma entrada.. nos serviu de forma desaatrada. Era um tipo de espeto com 4 míseros lagostins! Na mesma sequencia veio a outra entrada : um ceviche, que nao tinha proteína! Isso mesmo! Tinham apenas 5 camaroes e uma montanha de abacate, cebola e milho! Pra piorar a situação, junto com as 2 entradas veio o prato principal! Lembrem-se que falei no incio que estávamos numa mesa minúscula.. Meu marido nao tinha espaço para mover o talher. Olhei pra a garçonete e falei: "você poderia por gentileza nos colocar numa mesa maior?" Quando nos colocou na mesa maior reclamei: nunca vi entradas e prato principal serem servidos juntos! O atendimento desastroso, a comida horrível, entradas injustas e prato principal (carne) fibrosa e fria! Uma experiência completamente fora da nossa estadia em Bogotá.. uma cidade linda, amistosa, com comida de qualidade e preços justos. Chamamos a garçonete (se é que se pode chamar esta criatura de atentendente) e solicitamos a suspensão da sobremesa e que trouxesse a conta imediatamente. Ela nos informou que a sobremsa estava pronta e que se quisessemos poderiamos levar para casa. Falamos que nao queriamos de jeito nenhum. Ela chamou o gerente que nao fez absolutamente nada! Foi ate a mesa e perguntou o que havia ocorrido. Relatamos tudo e nem escutamos um pedido de desculpas. Na hora do pagamento pedimos para retirar a propina. A mulher ao faltou quebrar a mesa tamanha a força que digitava o valor na maquina de cartao. Nao percam o tempo de voces com esse LIXO DE LUGAR! Comida péssima, atendimento péssimo é desrespeitoso!
