Balcon Del Mar — Restaurant in Cóbano

We ordered the tenderloin steak with mashed potatoes, which was the most expensive meal we ordered in Costa Rica, and we were served a pathetic, tiny over-cooked piece of dry meat with a tiny portion of mashed potatoes. The tiny portion was just salt in the wound. There's no reason for that, especially not at these prices. We ate the meal and went straight to another restaurant since we were still hungry. This place is INCREDIBLE. They did a BBQ night over an open fire that put us Americans to shame. They had a balcony with a nice view and are conveniently located across the street from a nice beach. Service was friendly and the prices were fair. Both the chicken and fish had great portions and the sides (especially the aluminum foil potatoes) were incredible. It doesn't look like much from the road but this little soda packs a punch. The owner is very attentive and will make you feel absolutely welcome. All the dishes are reasonably priced and prepared with care. Unless you have a huge appetite I'd suggest splitting the entrees with a friend and maybe share a dessert or appetizer.
