I've been to this open air wine bar a few times. It is located right across from the beach and has parking available. The staff is friendly and bathrooms are clean. It's a good hang out spot outside of the main town of Puerto Viejo. During the times I have been, there were more locals than tourists imbibing. Menu items (bocas) worth noting are the King fish, the french fries, and the lobster mac-n-cheese. The menu here is constantly changing. This iteration is for the better. The burger was good but the fries are perfect. Hold off on the Jerk chicken get the delicious homemade tomato soup instead. The current hours are 12-9 pm. It's best to take a taxi or tuk-tuk if you plan on staying into the evening.

This was the first place we visited in Puerto Viejo and quickly became “regulars” as we constantly craved the food, drinks, and lovely staff throughout our month long stay. Make sure to say hello to the lovely dogs- and especially Tommy the Sloth who makes himself at home in the bar. Everything on the menu is crafted to perfection and the owners/staff are the most wonderful people we were blessed to meet. I recommend the fish tacos & spinach Madeline- but everything on the menu is a good choice. We will be back soon!!! Love you guys!!!

Saw this place while walking to Jaguar rescue. Made mental note to stop in for lunch or dinner since they opened at 12:00 noon and advertised their jerk chicken rice and beans for a reasonable price. Once we came back and I had to have the pulled pork with coleslaw and fries. I also had an ice cold Mc Chouffe beer and my hubby had a delicious margarita. I loved their food and good tunes playing in the background. I definitely will come back!!

Maybe our expectations were too high but we didn’t have a nice experience at this restaurant. The waiter was on his 2nd day and did his best but he got the order wrong (or the communication with the kitchen went wrong). We were asked if we agreed to swap main course and starters which we didn’t want to and that was it. No other solution offered, no further excuses or any other offer. The guy in the kitchen (we could see him) looked rather bored and annoyed. The chickpeas in my curry were still hard. Rest of the menu was mainly comfort food (for those who like it: great; we expected sth different). We were the only guests and the owner was busy with his dogs and friends, not caring about us at all. To top it off: the bill was completely wrong. We really tried to like the place but this was the worst night out we had...

While staying at Villas Del Caribe, we searched for restaurants in close walking distance and this looked like a great option. The open air concept is arranged with beautiful wood carved tables to offer an experience similar to eating in the rainforest. The dogs and cats gently walking about (and enjoying belly rubs) made us think of our animals we had at home awaiting our return. The hostess/bartender was extremely courteous and attentive to our dining experience. The menu prices were very reasonable. We wanted to enjoy our dinner more than we did but the taste was just not there (tuna and paella needed something to give it more flavor). I probably shouldn't have taken a seat facing the grill area either. When the chef doesn't appear happy, it can transfer to...
