Amana was the perfect place for my partner and I to celebrate our honeymoon at. This is a dining experience we will never forget. The food here is incredibly magical with so much attention to detail. Our waiter and wine pairing expert, Gustavo made the experience so fun. I HIGHLY recommend the wine pairing as it truly made our meals extra special. The night started off with warm bread and smooth butter. The next dish was one that my partner and I wish we could have every single day, and that was the tuna ceviche with peanut butter (I know, it sounds strange but it was surprisingly an amazing combo). Since we had visited Japan earlier this year, having Japanese elements in these dishes made it even more spectacular. My partner and I are from out of town, but we would visit Amana again in a heartbeat. We wish nothing but success for this incredible restaurant. Thank you to chef Damien and the rest of the team for making this night so incredible as well. We genuinely loved how accommodating this restaurant was for our 2 year old son as we're just never sure if fine dining spots are fine with children there. Greyson really loved the meals and dessert and very much felt at home.

A Refreshing Culinary Gem in San José We celebrated our anniversary at Amana and were blown away by the entire experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely special—an attention to detail that elevated the night from a dinner to a celebration. The food? Simply outstanding. Amana masterfully blends Costa Rican ingredients with Asian influences and modern culinary techniques to deliver a menu that feels both rooted and inventive. This isn’t just another “fancy” Escalante spot with inflated prices and forgettable dishes—Amana delivers on flavor, creativity, and soul. The ribeye was cooked to perfection, but the real showstoppers were the guanábana ceviche—bright, bold, and beautifully balanced—and the arancini, which hit all the right notes. Each dish was thoughtful, each bite memorable. Amana is exactly the kind of restaurant San José needs more of: innovative yet unpretentious, local yet global. A true standout. We’ll be back.

beautiful space in a nice neighborhood Superb service, loved the attention to detail, the waitress was amazing, explained all dishes with detail. We took advantage of their lunch menu, it is a lot of food! Includes coffee and dessert! For $20 each, they give you 2 options that are part of the regular menu! Very creative and flavorful dishes! Bread and butter were amazing! The drinks are excellent! Agua sapo and a tamarind mezcalito! Salad with hummus spectacular! Rigatoni with goat cheese, bacon and peanuts delicious! The cas dessert was an incredible experience and exc coffee!! Will be back for their new menu. I also tries the octopus entree (didn’t like it, too fishy for my taste) Love that they are making such good food at such an affordable price! Will be back!!

Amana is an absolute gem in San José! From the moment you step in, Kenneth, Luis, and the entire team make you feel incredibly welcomed with their outstanding service and attention to detail.

This restaurant offers a truly mesmerizing, multi-sensory experience that goes beyond dining. The creativity in each dish and ingredient is astounding—every plate feels like a carefully crafted work of art, combining bold flavors and innovative techniques. The food, wine, spirits, and cocktails are simply out of this world—each bite and sip is an adventure in flavor and imagination.

The cozy ambiance transports you, making you forget you’re inside a restaurant. For those seeking something extraordinary, the Chef’s Table experience is a must-try. It elevates the evening into an unforgettable journey that redefines what fine dining can be.
