The museum consists of patriotic exhibitions displaying objects and memorabilia, and a video of the former President and his history. There were also gallery rooms of many contemporary paintings of unrelated subject matter by a national artist. The structure itself is privileged period architecture. The former home has a wonderful reception room with high up clerestory windows. And throughout, there is the original basket weave terra-cotta floor. Large parking lot. Free entrance.

Built in 1912, Dr. Calderón Guardia bought the home as his residence in 1942 during his term as President (1940-1944). The Museum is beautiful, a testimony to the man known as “The Great Social Reformer” in Costa Rican history, with many exhibits dedicated to his life story. Additionally, the Museum rotates temporary exhibits, the current exhibit featuring the multi-media work of renowned Costa Rican artist Adolfo Siliézar. Free admission, 9-5 everyday but Sunday. Worth a visit! Go!

No more art exhibition. It's over. Free entry. The place is small, and everything is in Spanish. They can at least offer free WiFi or English text display. Also the 15 minute video playing rotates between English and Spanish, can't choose the language so you have to wait until Spanish is over. Honestly that's a stupid design and this place can do better to welcome non Spanish visitors.
