Ummm okay so I’m not sure what i just experienced but it certainly was not the dinner I thought it was was getting The reason why I (unfortunately) ended up in Mulán is because when I searched up pho google maps told me this was the closest place with pho to my hotel so with out questioning I embarked. First of all, the setting Almost missed the restaurant because you have to enter a gated grocery/ scary parking lot ally situation. From there you have to find the random stairs and go up them to get to the restaurant. Side note at the bottom of the stairs just out in the open, easy for the public to put stuff into, are dirty tanks of fish. The restaurant itself, was completely empty and gave off the vibe that I had just walked in a temporary wedding set up, not a permanent restaurant. There’s a giant screen playing sports up front on load volume. It was sure to say very weird, and I should’ve left. The service and food From the moment we arrived the staff gave off the vibe that they were confused why we were there. Took our order. The little robot brought out our water, that was a good part. After a while a big bowl of red liquid and spaghetti noodles was placed infront of me. And only me by the way, no one else’s food came with it. I tried it and it was very spicy, and that was why it was red. After discussing they said they brought the wrong thing out. Food finally came. Vegetable soup is, fair warning, hot water with bok choy and these interesting balls. Not veggie soup, nor what I wanted, nor very good, but if you’re into that. They good being out a free chicken soup thing for the mess up earlier, that was nice, but it was pretty bad. Orange chicken tasted like rubber and the fries were cold. Only good part of the whole meal was the rice it came with. Eating my soup felt like torture and every minute I was in that building I wanted to leave. Pretty sure Milan is a front ngl to you right now, but please do not go here. It entirely ruined San Jose for me because I only had one night in the city. Hope nothing bad happens to me for leaving this review because well,...
Read moreThe staff was very polite and the service was perfect. Where they fall short, is the food.
Whenever I goto a Chinese restaurant for the first time I order sweet and sour chicken with white rice. I do this to see how good they are at making a dish that is not real Chinese food but still amazing if done right. If the dish turns out well... I'll order a more authentic dish.
Needless to say the chicken was not good at all. It was chewy and you could obviously tell it was microwaved. No crunch qith the breading, chewy, and uneven temperature is the key signs that it is microwaved. The rice was ok... it was a bit to dry and also seemed microwaved. Still good... but nothing beats freshly cooked rice.
My friends food was similar. His prk was chewy... no crunch on anything.
I have been to many authentic chinese restaurants and I would say that if you are looking for food to eat while doing karaoke or an event... this place is just OK. It is definitely not the best in the area, but also not the worst.
Note to the restaurant- please do not use microwaves for dishes. It really impacts the food and is very noticeable. Which is a shame as the sauce on the food was one of the best I ever had. I will say that your staff...
Read moreDONT COME HERE! I been too many Chinese restaurants and this is by far the WORST ONE. Trust me, I have patience with restaurants but I never seen a restaurant with such bad service from the front of the house/to the kitchen in my life.
First off, it took 25mins for the waiter to bring us water and then take our orders. The order was wrong, next up it took 30mins for the food to come out with literally one table here. The order was wrong again. The person who is the hostess ran away and hid in the back for 10mins when I tried to tell them about the order. They ended up making the wrong order and completely forgot two other food items that we ordered.
Not to mention, the place was dirty, extremely hot, over priced by far. Don’t come here; it’s not worth the amount of frustration that this place...
