uuuugggghhhh!!! It was not by choice my friend and I stayed here but rather a late-night, last option! We had booked a place down the road at Casa Colon and were forced to move to Hotel Ambassador because our room at Colon was no longer available (that's another post). Thank god we only had to really spend less than 6 hours MAX in this place. Walking into the lobby around 23:00 we had the most uncomfortable feeling. It was dark with flickering fluorescent lights and random men just hanging out infront of the TV. Our room was disgusting! The bathroom and shower were equally disgusting! It was as if they built the place in the 60s and hadn't touched it since! The sheets and bed made sleeping so utterly uncomfortable. I had to put one of my own t-shirts over the pillow to ensure I would be sleeping on something clean! The blankets hadn't been changed since 1960 either. This was the worst 1st night's sleep in a new...
Read moreI am an Amrican who has family ties to CR. I have been traveling to this country for over 50 years and have been staying at this hotel for decades. On September 22 2025 I checked in, because i had an early flight the next day at 7:00. On September 23rd i tried to check out at 4:30AM. I checked out however i was unable to leave the premises until the staff was able to go up staurs and check the room, which I have to assume to check for possible lost item. The front door remained closed until the staff member returned. I was livid, I could not believe what was happening. I was told by staff, thats the rule of the hotel, that guess cannot leave until rooms are check for last item. I would never return to this place ever again. A 1.5 star hotel has the nerve to treat there...
Read moreBesides it being small crappy rooms with squeaky beds I experienced credit card fraud from my stay. It was the only time I used my credit card in San Jose, guaranteed. When we were on the chairs in the lobby in the morning waiting for our taxi to take us to the airport (we stayed one night after coming in from the west coast), the lady at the front desk asked us if we we just arriving, or departing. We told her we were on our way back to Canada. Three days after returning home, purchases in San Jose started to occur, one of them at Pizza Hut across the street from the Hotel. I've just made my claim with card company and will be getting a new card shortly. Don't stay in this hotel. It's garbage anyway and too far from...
