I don’t know where to begin with this place. The staff is exuberantly friendly, and make great conversation. They will also point out the wildlife like capuchin monkeys and birds. The location, though a bit hard to reach, is breathtaking both inside and out. The views from here are worth almost as much as the meal. The menu is extensive and varied, and the food is delicious and beautifully presented. I got upset that I was too full to order more. Whoever controls the playlist here is on fire, they got the vibes down just right. The price is a bit on the higher side, but not every menu item is expensive, so you can easily get a good meal whether you have twenty dollars or a hundred dollars. I cant recommend this place enough, i will def be visiting again during my stay. Also, theres a cute dog!! who could want more

We visited here twice during our trip. The first night we enjoyed the Bulgogi & Pork Belly as well as a couple rounds of 2 for 1 cocktails. Outstanding experience; We met the owner and her son and really enjoyed them taking the time to talk and cook for us! The second time we went for the start of happy hour. The waitress acted surprised we were there so early & our drinks were exemplary of that sentiment. They were not nearly as well made as night 1 (watered down and bland) so we skipped dinner to head elsewhere. We were so impressed by the first visit and will still likely visit next time, but just so the owner knows consistency wise- if our second visit had been the first, we probably would not have returned.

My husband caught fresh fish while we were in Quepos. We took it to Carambola to be prepared for us for dinner. The first time we had yellow fin tuna he’d caught. The chef, Fran, prepared it 3 ways for us—ceviche, sashimi and grilled to perfection ! So when he caught a red snapper we knew we wanted it prepared at Carambola again! This time we had Korean infused ceviche and then most of it was grilled with scallion, ginger and soy sauce. Again perfection ! The accompanying sides were delicious and we had some wonderful Bulgogi as well. The service was first rate and the chef even took time to visit with us… if we ever make it back to Quepos we will definitely be checking in at Carambola !

Carambola is such a gem in Manuel Antonio! From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcomed and taken care of. The whole vibe was warm and inviting, like we were visiting a friend’s place instead of a restaurant.

The drinks? Amazing. My guapiriña and passionfruit margarita were super refreshing, perfectly balanced, and just what I needed after a hot day. My husband was craving a mojito, and even though it wasn’t on the menu, they made him one with mandarina lemon—such a thoughtful touch! Little things like that make a place special.

And the food—WOW! Every single bite was packed with flavor and beautifully plated. Here’s what we had: ✅ C-Viche – So fresh and zesty! ✅ Mango Bruschetta – A fun, tropical twist on a classic. ✅ Poke Bowl – Everything just worked together perfectly. ✅ Glass Noodles – Light, flavorful, and so good. ✅ Korean Chicken Wings – Honestly, the BEST wings we’ve ever had. ✅ Grilled Eel – Melted in our mouths. ✅ Bulgogi Bowl – Tender, savory, and packed with flavor.

Oh, and the sunset? Unreal. Carambola has one of the best views in Manuel Antonio, and watching the sky turn all kinds of pink and orange while sipping our drinks was pure magic.

Huge shoutout to Jorge, who made us feel right at home with his friendly and attentive service. And the owner? She’s amazing— Fran always checking in on every table while also cooking everything from scratch. You can tell she loves what she does, and it shows in every detail.

If you’re in Manuel Antonio, do yourself a favor and eat at Carambola. It’s an experience you...

I don’t often write reviews but after this awful experience I feel like I must warn others. This place is the absolute worst when it comes to customer service, we got there 1.5 hrs before the place closes, we were told they don’t have anymore bbq grill tables, we elected to go with whatever they had since we’ve been driving all day and were starving. They put us in a table in front of the bathroom door (very disgusting) while there were a couple of open tables but fine, unfortunately we walked 10 mins from our hotel to the restaurant, we couldn’t just leave that easily. Fast forward to our order, I went ahead and ordered a beer, when the beer came I asked the server if he could get me a glass to pour the beer from the bottle , he said yes, left and never returned until it was time to take our order (10+ mins later) without the glass, fine. We placed our order, and literally took them 1 hour to prepare our food. We had a different server (45 mins into waiting) come tell us that 2 of their cooks had already left for the day, that’s why our food was taking so long, he added it’ll be just a couple more minutes before our food comes out. 20 mins later our food finally made it to the table. Worst place to spend your hard earned money. We feel more ashamed at ourselves for staying this long and accepted this level of...
