Very expensive and tiny portions for bland food and poor service. Wish I had Googled it before walking in off the street. Also 34,400 colones is not 56$ dollars US, It's 53.19$, not to mention that's for 2 entrees, 1 appetizer, and 4 imperial beers. Additionally for how incredibly expensive it is they charge a service fee and the I.V.A. Majority of places include the 13% iva tax in the price. Normally I would not care about two dollars but it was just insult to injury at that point.

The Po Pia Tod is 3800 colones for two bites. Like literally it looks like pre frozen egg rolls with a little bit of sweet sauce on top of two rolls cut up. Very disappointed.

We ordered the pad tía with tofu and tofu basil as our main dishes. Each 8900 colones or almost 15$ US dollars before the extra fee and tax so over 15$ dollars, they do not mention the extra fees anywhere on the menu. The food came in good time for how busy they were but the portion sizes were tiny. The tofu was mushy. They warned me the basil tofu would be spicy. It was a little spicy but not much, not like real Thai food. The pad Thai noodles and tofu were mushy, and the peanut was on the side. No lemon grass, no ginger, no seasoning at all except for some sort of sugar sauce. The portion sizes for both are pathetically small, especially for the price.

The wait staff were nice and spoke English but it was hard to try and get service after ordering. No soy sauce, didn't get the chop sticks I asked for, hard to flag them down for water.

The manager had so many excuses ready for why they were charging 56.00$ US dollars for 34,400 Costa Rican Colones. First was that banks charge different amounts for foreign transactions, my credit union charges 0.25$ per transaction. Excuse number two was that the currency fluctuates every day all day; not by that much it has not in years. Excuse three was that's the exchange rate they receive from their bank, I don't know. Excuse number four was that was what was entered in their system at the start of the morning which totally negates excuse number two and absolutely not true. Regardless they quickly refunded the dollars and charges the colones. Two dollars is no big deal normally but it was the last straw and I was...

I recently visited this restaurant and, unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to expectations. The starters weren’t bad, but they weren’t anything special either. The papaya salad, for instance, tasted like it came straight from a can, which was disappointing given that papayas are native to Costa Rica. It would have been nice to see the dish prepared with fresh green papaya, as it should be.

The main courses, however, were overly sweet. It seemed like too much sugar was used in the cooking, which made the dishes taste more like a sugary fusion rather than anything remotely authentic. The portions, particularly of the main courses, were quite small, and what was served was overly greasy and sickly sweet. It was like they added an excessive amount of oil and sugar, making the dishes almost inedible.

The Thai lemonade we ordered was incredibly sweet, to the point that it could cause a diabetic coma. It was undrinkable, so we sent the full glasses back and asked for a cola instead. To be honest, the cola zero was the highlight of the meal.

The kitchen was staffed by Costa Ricans, which might explain the lack of authenticity. Despite the restaurant claiming to serve Thai food, it felt more like an Americanized version of Thai cuisine that was unappealing and far from the real deal.

To top it off, the service left a lot to be desired. The manager was unfriendly, which made the overall experience feel even more disappointing. I won’t...

I ate here with a friend trying something new in Manuel Antonio. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken. She ordered a chicken pad Thai. It wasn’t until after I finished my delicious rice dish that she noticed something off with the chicken in her Pad Thai. “Does this look raw to you?” My friend asked. Upon further inspection there was a large piece of raw chicken in her Pad Thai. She was nearing the end of her meal and for fear of getting sick went to the bathroom and forced herself to throw up.

Normally I don’t leave reviews for much of anything. This is probably my first google review. The reason I’m leaving this here is because the way they handled the situation. After pointing out the raw chicken the waitress talked with the chef who said it was a large piece chicken that I guess we didn’t cook all the way. she offered us another dish of Pad Thai with even more chicken promising that it will be cooked all the way this time. We advised them that we lost our appetites. I’m scared I may have consumed some raw chicken in my dish as well with their cavalier attitude acting like this isn’t the first time it’s happened. They remedied the situation by comping the pad Thai and offered their most insincere apologies. My friend had the following to say: “I recommend ordering the chicken well done. Samui? More...

I'm backpacking around Costa Rica and so I'm on a budget, however, one night ai decided to treat myself. We chose to come here as it's something very different to the typical cuisine we were eating. It was a bit more expensive than the other restaurants, so there was a lot of pressure for it to be worth it. But oh wow, it was worth EVERY SINGLE penny of the C10500 (£12.50 - inc. tax and tip). I had the 'Wok Basil' and chose chicken as my meat, and it was the best curry I have EVER had. When I ordered it, the waitress warned me that it would be spicy, but it was perfect. It started off smokey, but then the large potion of chili that it had been cooked with kicked in and just gave it the perfect amount of spice. The portion size was generous, and yhere was loads of chicken, which itself had bee marinated in the same sauce. If you're in Manuel Antonio, absolutely make sure you eat here! This is the first restaurant I've ever written a review about, but I'm writing this as soon as I got back, because it's just that good!

If you’re looking for an authentic Thai experience, Samui Thai is certainly… an experience. Just not the one you want. Let’s start with the phone call. While placing my order, I had the pleasure interacting with a passive aggressive staff. The menu didn’t specify that rice was included with my Wok Basil meal, so I ordered a side of sticky rice. Big mistake. Huge. When my food arrived, I noticed the rice container felt suspiciously light—the rice was tightly wrapped in plastic wrap. But the real shock came when I opened it. As seen in the attached video, this so-called “sticky rice” had achieved a level of adhesion that could put gorilla glue out of business. Either they misunderstood the meaning of “sticky,” or they’re secretly running a side hustle in industrial adhesives. As you can see in the video, when I try to pull the rice apart, not one but two of my forks broke. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to eat something that could double as tile caulking, they have got you covered. Bon appétit!
